Believe me, as a writer, sometimes for the sake of setting up a storyline that involves the desired characters you have to set aside obvious scenarios that will likely be pointed out by some of the readers.

My answer whenever people ask me ‘why didn’t they just do x?” Is: “dramatic effect.” Or “Because I needed an excuse to use x” xD

Woah, woah, woah.

So spitfire just admitted she’s a terrible person who was a douche to Soarin, and her “Solution” to fix this is to put ANOTHER pony in danger to solve her problem?

Well, Its 100% in character for shitfire, so bravo I guess.

I suppose I could ignore it, yes. Saying something is canon is effectively claiming that something is fact though, and that’s often harder to just straight up ignore, when compared to someone who only wants to voice an opinion or something. I usually do anyway, honestly, but sometimes I take the time to correct them on their nonsense.

Anyway, whatever. I could drop my background pony status if you think you have a good ad hominem lined up or something, because I can’t see any other purpose, honestly, but what’s the point? There’s not much else to be said, and I don’t want to clog up the comments more than I already have if possible.

Sorry for the disturbance. It’s often difficult for me to get my points across fully without putting a good number of words into my posts.

I’m not a shipper, I have no issue with people shipping it, and it’s not my intention to attack or belittle anyone’s favorite ship. My problem is people making the false claim that it’s somehow canon just because a male and female character happen to interact, even when it’s clear that they’re just friends.

I knew people would comment about how “omg soarindash canon!1!!1” and other related nonsense, but it doesn’t make them any less of a fool for doing so. Perhaps it’d be better to just ignore it, but whatever, I usually do so, and it’s not like it stops them. This BP in particular that I’m replying to is basically a shipper extremist who refuses to accept the idea that people may disagree with his favorite ship, particularly Fluttercord. I can understand enthusiasm for a ship you like, and that people would really get into it at all, but jesus, try to remain reasonable please. Not everyone shares your ship.

Are you one of those delusional shippers? No it won’t, because the comic is about friendship and nothing more, it doesn’t involve shipping in any way, like all the other friends forever comics. It’s not going to ‘shake’ anything anymore than literally any of the other friends forever comics did.

Also, I severely doubt it’s the most popular ship. One of them, sure, but some of the ships that put her with other main characters are probably more popular to some extent or another. I wouldn’t know for sure which ones are, I’m not really a shipper.

And once again, not canon. Of course, whatever, it’s late right now and I’m tired, not a good time of day to get into a fight about that.

I’m sure there will be some delusional shippers who will try to twist this into something it’s not, yes. But it’s quite clearly just a friendship comic, so they won’t be doing anything but making themselves look like a fool. Don’t let them ruin the issue for you if you happen to like it, I guess.

Also, number one just depends on how IDW does it’s writing this time, as I find it’s been a very mixed bag, but I’ll leave it at that, don’t really feel like getting into an argument on that topic. Plus, a lot of the time it’s small parts of issues that can be good or bad, which means you can have good issues with really bad parts or tidbits, and bad issues with good parts or tidbits.

No, while it doesn’t for a second mean you can’t enjoy them just as much, the comics just aren’t canon. Of course you’d expect them to contain certain key elements from MLP though, like the Equestria Games. Lot’s of fanfics obviously contain the Equestria Games too, and lot’s of other stuff from the show, because they’re also set in the world of MLP, but that doesn’t make them anymore canon either.
