In a simlar vein, Starlight also houses the heart of a alicorn. I know not whether DHX and IDW share this pivotal part of Sunset’s backstory, but due to Sunset’s immense skill, the mirror showed her what her future form could potentially be, but of course Sunset was too much of a tool, so Cel couldn’t allow her until she was ready. Twilight got wings with time and perseverance, and in a way Sunset and Starlight can too, but not without going through the same shit Twilight had.
 
That isn’t to say Shimmer/Glimmercorn will be absolutes, FiM has been known to do whatever the fuck it can get away with, and I’d more expect Sunset and Starlight get different, but equally powerful rewards of some form. What I’ve in mind is much like Rainbow Power, an alternate form one can revert to and from at will, or a power that can affect the entire country, also like Rainbow Power. One idea’d be giving the Crusaders their super move, but requiring Starlight as a conduit, like Voltron or Sym-Bionic Titan. >w<

They still should justify it in the story though, Human Twilight mainly reflects earlier series pony Twilight so it just feels off. They never even really remark upon it.
 
& it’s not like easier means better, it’s not even that hard in the first place. & it’s also bad since they’re still selling unicorn Twilight toys so there’s little excuse for making things less confusing that way.

Human Twilight has wings because Pony Twilight is an alicorn, and Equestria Girls tend to mirror their pony selves in many aspects. Also Human Twilight was marketed with wings in some of the Friendship Games dolls as well and she was even depicted having them in one ad.
 
Bottom line it may be simpler for Hasbro to market the character as such than having to go out of its way to make such distinctions. ’

Sunset and EG!Twilight have wings because of their spiritual strength, and it likely doesn’t make them alicorns, the same way magic doesn’t make pegasi wings on Rainbow and Flutter permanent, especially because it has been said it takes a shitload of magic to create an alicorn. Of course, for us to know absolutely whether human magic does change them physically, Sunset and EG!Twilight will have to go through the mirror one day, yeah. X3

I’m still not a fan of the Sci-Twi with wings thing. Unless they reveal that they directly siphon their magic off of their Equestrian counterparts it doesn’t make sense.
