You also need to know that he had to come to terms with how Fancypants used him as bait so that the warship could find the pirates. He may have nearly wet himself at first, but he quickly became enraged and all that built up anger at a slum full of ponies who detested a “filthy useless dragon” and has lots of reason to be angry, period.
 
Yes, he’ll probably take 5 to suss out how he had to go and kill to survive, but knowing the crew, he’ll get over it fairly quickly.
 
I’d LIKE to see him have a bit of a hard time with it, and when AJ and RD try to tell him how it’s “no big deal”, he calls them out on how they are just in the pirating as a cover to indulge in their sadistic glee of murdering (especially AJ).
 
Would be nice to see THAT take place but I don’t think the writer will be going that way.

He’s on a boat with a hyperactive naked baker, a motherly veterinarian, a gun-crazy cowgirl, a recluse who sees him as more like a brother, a fashion-conscious captain, and… Rainbow Dash.
 
… Even if most of them ARE attractive, one thing or another would stop him any urge to “smash” with them. Whether they only like one male stripper, see him too much as family, is a massive tease, or… well, whatever Pinkie qualifies as. It’ll just make him, well… anxious, pent-up, stressed… besides, would YOU want to fap in peace, knowing Pinkie would just pop up randomly to ask what flavor of cake you’d want for a party?

The only real benefit is that right now he has no job, but has one with them. But he’s still going to have to live with blowing up a boat; that won’t just go away… well, if the writing’s GOOD, that won’t just go away.
 
I don’t expect him to just bypass it, but I do expect a page or two dedicated to acceptance of his actions, properly realizing it instead of just having women pushed in front of the problem, as was done earlier in the medical bay.
