I’m surprised Sugarcoat doesn’t say something about the status of the LGBXYZ

Nah, it’s fine, haha. You’re in the right to, even on quick sketches, lol. Part of being an artist, etc. I wanted to do something cute, but this, i guess, horribly backfired. I just wanted to do something for some of my friends after them having fun at a few Pride events this weekend. I’ll just be less “open” about those in the future. u;;

Ah, ahh jeez… shit… Sorry about that, man. I was… I thought I should give what I liked doing in the first place a shot, and try to give this image a nice, hard look, and a thorough review. Your images are some of my favorites, and I always see improvement and enjoy spotting the little details.

I-I didn’t… mean anything bad by it… sorry.

It… was kind of a quick sketch, so sorry if it’s not super detailed on a lot of things. I just wanted to belt out something fun, to be honest, but honestly didn’t figure it would invoke such reactions, (and I guess someone try to “trigger” someone for the heck of it, or whatever…)so I’m really sorry for uploading this sketch. x_x

I mean, I do see what you mean, and honestly, I should concentrate on more intricate things on a piece in the long run.

Hmm… this image leaves me conflicted. It seems like this image could’ve had a lot more polish; hardly anything to the background. At the same time, the confetti being in both the background and foreground would have taken a lot of effort to make look good, although the ones in the BACKGROUND should be smaller, in accordance to foreground-background differentiation; the ones in the FRONT would be larger, particularly the ones clearly in front of Indigo Zap and Sugarcoat.

I feel like Sugarcoat could be a bit more in-character if she phrased “Oh yeah? How about the time” as “You said the same thing that time”; makes her sound more doubtful and cynical, which works for her character. Also, her other arm feels… wasted. Like, it could have had her pick a piece of confetti out of Indigo’s hair, or her own, or covering her cup so nothing gets in, stuff like that.

Last but not least, something that just kinda bugs me personally, is the inclusion of “pride” at the bottom-right. It almost seems like it’s stating the obvious, and draws attention away from the art itself, much like an obtrusive watermark.

So… what DO I like about this? One, Facial Expressions. Indigo shows a little bit of joy, but the real star is Sugarcoat’s look of doubt. Everything from where the eyes are looking, to something as minute as “eyebrow curve”, portrays their personalities perfectly.

And then there’s the little things. Indigo’s bracelets, Sugarcoat’s undershirt, the “movement lines” around the small flags, the “bland” red, striped design of the plastic cup, often given at festivals and gatherings. EVERYTHING works towards making this image come out as absolutely great.

And as I said, it makes me feel conflicted. It paints its theme well, but… I feel like there was missing potential in this one. Like there could have been more addressed. More detail to give… I DO like it, but it’s hard to say that I really like it.

I wonder if Indigo Zap has even the slightest idea what the pride parade is about. She seems so clueless.
