It’s a fandom. A declaration of an opposing view is grounds for proverbial assault and mass funposting.
Regardless, I’ve tried TWICE now to apologize and make peace but I just keep getting dragged back here.
Three statements:
A) Spike can send objects with magical fire, he can also use burning fire
B) Spike is just triggering enchant on enchanted objects (With “wrapped around” fix for explaining GtBO, and fix for “Dragon-code” summoning from SaYS yet pending)
C) Some other explanation
I claim, that all A, B, C are potentially, in theory, possible, because show never explicitly explained how letter-sending works (statements have different levels of believability, but still possible)
skilledful never claimed that B is factually false, he was just sharing his A theory-based post. You, however, started impose your statement that “actually no, B is true, A is false, C is false, period” upon other people. If you just shared B theory-based post, no one would’ve batted an eye.

Basically.
I bring up depictions of what spike’s fire does and all it does is burn things unless said object happens to be a scroll, which is sent to celestia.
Then everyone hounds me and yells “THAT’S JUST YOUR HEADCANON!” and then comes up with more elaborate headcanon and claims it as fact.
Sooo… Again, I’ll say that “my headcanon” is based in the facts we have on hand. Until I’m proven otherwise by the show, that’s what I’m sticking to.
@Ihhh
Yup. Those “magical scrolls” people seems very passionate about “correcting” other people.
@thps48
Um, what are you actually talking about? First, what “seven years” of your interaction with Daneasaur has to do with anything? Second, this is not the first time someone baselessly claims they know “The Truth” about Spike’s breath and go around correcting people. At least third of them agreed that “magical scrolls/scroll binders” is nothing but theory when “Griffon the Brush-Off” and “Spike at Your Service” were brought up.
I personally like Fo:E’s explanation of it, with “balefire.” Though, I have clear bias here.
Daneasaur is using a lack of information as evidence for his own personal headcanon and is insisting that what information he does have can only be interpreted one way.
That’s when they leave out any information that isn’t potentially important.
I don’t see how that applies to this debate about how Spike’s spellfire actually works.
Neon spikes@Blissey1
I’ve been under the assumption that Dane’s outlines on Spike’s magic has been fairly objective for the past, eh, seven years, which is why debates on the subject are rare, or have I been unaware of a lesser known detail that refutes what was established in Mare in the Moon, Griffon the Brush-Off, and Bird in the Hoof? <_<
Why not?
I don’t think that applies here.
All right, then I shall reword what I’m saying.
My “headcanon” is based in the facts I’ve gleamed off of the episodes where nothing but scrolls (and items wrapped in said scrolls) are sent by Spikes flames whereas all other items are incinerated.
That appease everyone?
Conservation of detail.
Again, I refute that claim with proof of when he was scared by Dash and Pinkie and accidentally hiccup-burned the scrolls he was carrying and they all went to celestia. He has been scared, sneezed, or even exhaled without meaning it and incinerated something he’s holding/looking at, but those objects don’t go anywhere, they just burn, only the scrolls ever get sent.
but he could simply be able to control if his breath is magic or not and only uses the magic breath on scrolls and normal breath for other things.
The thing with having only evidence is that there’s more than one theory that can fit that evidence. Thus why it is still only headcanon.
The claim is that he has magical breath.
I refute it by saying that the scrolls are the magical item, not his breath, as showcased when he burns ANYTHING that isn’t a scroll.
lol what? that’s not how headcanon works. you can bring up all the evidence you want, but until the show outright says it one way or the other, it’s still just headcanon.

Prove me wrong.
I can prove multiple items that are not scrolls burned by spikes fire that do not go anywhere, whereas Scrolls burned by the same fire are sent.
This includes the time Pinkie Pie and RD pranked him and he had the hiccups, accidentally burning a stack of scrolls that all got sent to Celestia, whereas numerous other times he sneezed/was scared/or otherwise accidentally blew fire, simply incinerated what he lit.
That is your headcanon.
Actually no, the scrolls are magical. His breath doesn’t send anything beyond the scrolls and just burns anything else.
