Hell everyone knows how much I think Starlight is badly written, but even I’ve said I’ve liked some of her interactions with Trixie. I’ve never compared her to to freaking Bubsy.

I just saw it as them trying to do something different with Starlight. That she’s a result of Twilight making a conscious effort to treat her decently. Not EVERY former villain should need to be treated like garbage.
 
Twilight’s brand of support is also shown as having its down points too. She doesn’t trust Starlight with making friends. She’s overly protective of her.
 
Also, several characters have gotten mad at Starlight over the series and haven’t been portrayed as wrong for being so (in addittion to To Change a Changeling as you mentioned). AJ got mad at her in No Second Prances. RD yelled at her in Every Little Thing. RD made the “super villain tracker” remark in Shadow Play.

“reformed” Sunset is definitely the closest thing to being Friendship Is Magic’s answer to Bubsy the Bobcat, only without an annoying catchphrase.

Your point? Sunset had to earn their complete trust in the next movie. Also, let’s not forget that they took every opportunity to take pot shots at her.
 
With Starlight, every time someone tries to take a pot shot at her (which is EXTREMELY rare) it’s immediately shut down (To Change a Changeling being an exception).

A. Twilight might have developed since the first image.
 
B. In the Starlight image that was Twilight reaching out to Starlight because breaking her down and appealing to her emotionality was the only way to stop her.
 
In EQG1 Sunset ALSO was picked up by Twiight and Twilight said that the girls could be her friends.

No it’s not, she has a great relationship with Twilight, the owner of said castle. Just because her relationship with the rest of the cast is barely existent doesn’t suddenly make her friendship with Twilight disappear. Also, Sunset’s apartment might be rundown, but it’s HUGE, easily twice the size of mine. Calling it a “one room apartment with a bathroom is seriously underselling it.

The real irony for me here is that the reactions between the movie and comic should be swapped.  
Bully the school for years, then everyone sees you turn into a demon and brainwash everyone to use them as fodder in an interdemsional war? Mean stares and frowny faces.  
People suspect you might be a gossip? Total War!
 
Instead of focusing on the overdone (and underwhelming) “people don’t like me,” high school drama shtick, the movie should have played up the trust issues with the other main characters. Have them turn her down when she asks to join the band, have them hesitate to invite her to their slumber party. Instead, the lack of trust between them just makes things awkward, instead of being the source of any real conflict.
