I was like “That’s best pony right there. I don’t care if Sunset Shimmer is the pony that everybody falls head over heels for, she ain’t my type. But that pony with the hijab? I would waifu her but I gotta first be doctor, lawyer or engineer and then go speak with her dad.”

Provided that the husbando is fair to all of them, then yes he can waifu two, three or four. If the male protagonist fears that he cannot treat his potential waifus with fairness, then he should waifu only one of them.
Also I’m laughing so very hard at this comment because this is the kind of high quality ‘halal jokes’ that I personally would like to see more of.

We haven’t gotten to see how the different ponies feel/think/act about romance. Mostly just Rarity having a crush and AJ getting crushed on by some pony she didn’t care for much.

That’s more bad art than an indication of emotion. A pony’s tail comes out of the base of their spine, not the top of the rump.
