Celestia allegedly has the power of all three main pony types, Pegasi included, so I now have the picture of her working in a weather factory in my head now.

I live in New York, we can get some crazy amount of snow sometimes. The snow is pretty to look at sometimes (especially if there’s not much of it to clean) and there’s a lot of nice things to do in winter like certain winter sports and activities, winter holidays, and winter foods (like porridge and soup) so I’m not denying winter has its perks. But ultimately the cons of winter outweigh the pros for me.

For one, cleaning snow is too much of a huge chore to bother with. Also as a dog owner, walking a dog in the winter is sometimes a pain to deal with too sometimes because they won’t bother doing their business because they’re either scared of the snow or want to play in the snow (so that just means either dealing with more accidents indoors at this time or longer walks which means you got to spend more time in the cold).

You have to worry about ice too. Driving in the winter is VERY DANGEROUS because of the ice. So many vehicle accidents happen in the winter because of this. People just lose control of their cars. And for those of you who live in places where it doesn’t snow and are thinking, “Well, just look out carefully for the ice, that should work right?” Wrong. There’s also black ice to worry about (aka ice that you can not see too well). And you don’t even have to be in a vehicle to worry about the ice. You can just be walking and just slip and fall right on the pavement. So even just walking around can actually lead you into the hospital in the winter if you’re not careful. Whether you’re in a car or walking, you can just find yourself getting hurt without even expecting it and I’m sorry but that’s horrifying.

I’m also one of those people who can pile on a bunch of layers of clothes, huddle up a bunch of blankets (I double blanket with a thin blanket and a thick heavy one), and have the heat on full blast and STILL feel cold and shiver like crazy despite all that. Like, I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s like I struggle keeping warm in the winter.

Also the lack of sunlight in the winter makes me super depressed. I’m not joking. That’s actually a thing. It makes my depression harder to manage really bad compared to other seasons. Also during the winter, I go out less so you can add that to the depression pile too. Also in the winter, it’s easier to get sick since cold and flu season is at a huge spike then (you also have to worry about things other things getting a spike then like pneumonia and hypothermia).

I also have a love-hate relationship with the winter holidays. I love Christmas and New Years, don’t get me wrong. I love celebrating both of those with my family and friends and I love giving gifts to friends and family (as well as getting gifts back from them too). It’s a joyous time where you can relax and have fun with the people you love. But at the same time, thanks to the aforementioned depression, because the year is ending, I get these huge waves of depressive thoughts about not doing enough for my family and friends or how I didn’t do enough throughout the year or how I’m a horrible person because I couldn’t finish some of my personal goals that I wanted to that year. It’s at the time of year where I’m probably the cruelest to myself. I also feel sad because my friends and a lot of my family live so far away from me that I can’t spend actual physical contact with them. We have to mail each other our gifts. And I just wish I could be with them in person and it hurts SO much.

I’m not saying things in summer are hunky dory either. Sometimes the heat gets unbearable, sometimes the heat makes people crazy and angry and constantly on edge, sometimes people get sunburn (though I don’t sunburn easily so I don’t really have to worry about that), and the bugs are a pain to deal with (especially the mosquitoes since they bite and leave you with horrible rashes and carry deadly diseases). But ultimately, if I had to pick between the two, I’d pick summer.

Also, I don’t know why this debate has to be a thing when Spring and Fall exists. They’re not too hot, not too cold, and you can do a lot of fun “summer” activities during those seasons but without sweating like a pig.
