Ah okay. I’m not too surprised to hear LeVar Burton was okay with it. He seems to be a cool guy from what I’ve seen and heard from him. But just because he was okay with it, doesn’t mean other people at PBS would be so I can also understand why they changed the title as a just in case measure.
Hasbro might have been right about the Coco Pommel thing. Some sue for the pettiest thing. Like when Spike Lee sued SpikeTV and for months they had to use the name “The New TNN” while the lawsuit was going on.
@mjangelvortex
It was another situation like Coco Pommel where there was absolutely zero legal action involved, Hasbro’s lawmonkeys just pre-emptively decided to mandate a change Just In Case™.
LeVar Burton is on record somewhere as saying he would have LOVED for the episode to be titled Reading Rainbow, and would have made sure there were no legal problems with it.
@bigd
Fun Fact: “Reading Rainbow” was originally going to be the title for “Read it and Weep.” I’m guessing they couldn’t go with it due to possible legal issues or they didn’t want to anger anybody.
(We now see in this instance where blue athletic tomboy horse delves into the world of knowledge and nerdiness where her purple book horse-reading friend will be ecstatic and happy at the sight of it.)
@TexasUberAlles
That is awesome to know. The target audience may have missed the joke, but still that would have been awsome

Wow. That was rather petty of him.
