And than Sunset was an Equestria Girls character, having no impact on the main show whatsoever. I really don’t get why people hate EG.

Okay, when has there ever not been a toy with some sort of gimmick that did not include Twilight? Remember the glitter wing Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy? THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED!

Maybe that’s where the tension comes from. Trixie could both be madly in love with Twilight but also hate her guts and be frustrated because Twilight doesn’t swing that way (or any way for that matter).

No way. We all know Trixie is the true and only love in Twiligth’s life!

To my surprise, I’m okay with the idea of bringing in a new character into the mane cast. Even if it just restored the 2-2-2 dynamic, it might be fun to throw a new personality into the mix.
 
But I don’t think Sunset Shimmer is that pony. Her cover image is based very heavily on Rarity with a different color scheme. A far cry better than Princess Skyla, but still too close to an existing character to be a mane-stay. I want to give the show’s artists more credit than that.

With the evidence we have… I’d believe that Twilight’s going to be out as either lesbian or bisexual and that Sunset is her lover before I believe that she’s her replacement.

Maybe Twilight’s gonna be outed… with her?

Personally, I think that the writers are going to get fed up with her again and just shove her into the back. She was already a much blander character in Season 3 than she was in Season 2, and now that she has reached the apex of her character development by “achieving her destiny” as the commercials so proudly proclaimed, she doesn’t really have anywhere left to go other than accepting her responsibilities.
 
I think they will do a few episodes about her doing princess crap, and then they will either take away her alicornness or shove her away to be with the other princesses where they only have to bother with her a few times a season.

Only because you lack the imagination what to do with Twilight does not mean the writers lack this too.  
Besides, we have at least 6 other characters who needs episodes. ;)

Think about it. Twilight had more personality in her first few seconds onscreen than Mario’s had in 32 years. They clearly don’t write the episodes based on the characters phenotype, but on her personality.

is it me or on that picture she has mane similar to Rarity and on picture i don’t see a horn…

it was been always mane 6 because of elements of harmony i think…i want SUNSET IN THE SHOW ! xD
