I can assume that in the past, Izzy never met Misty when she was growing up in Bridlewood Forest since Opaline took Misty away when she was very little. Izzy met Misty for the first time in Maretime Bay in the present.

So if Alphabittle is Misty’s father, why doesn’t Izzy recognize her? My only guess is that alphabittle lost Misty when she was very young.

No wonder Alphabittle was so aloof and overprotective of Izzy! He missed Misty!

Way I see it. If Alphabittle and Qieen haven ever get hitched, that just means Misty, Pipp and Zipp are going to become sisters. I wonder how that’d work out?

I’m not saying Alphabittle being Misty’s father was a last minute decision because again, it was foreshadowed in Manesquerade Ball. But the most ahead I could’ve seen them plan this was in Make Your Mark’s production, not A New Generation’s.

Well, I think we’ll find it out soon. If they’ll refer to (at least some of) these hints in any way or form, then I think it will be safe to say that making Alphabittle and Misty related wasn’t a last minute decision indeed.

Also, what I haven’t mentioned here yet, that the creators gave Alphabittle and Misty the exact same face shape in Tell Your Tale, which was probably an intentional artistic choice:

Speaking of which, TYT’s character design was made way back then in 2019 by Boulder Media, alongside the production of the ANG movie, at least for the main cast, but I guess as soon as a character got its 3D design finalized, they’ve made its 2D counterpart too right after that.

All of these are solid and interesting theories, but again, none of them seem to have been intentional foreshadowing, but are rather details that fans can recontextualize to add up with Alphabittle’s character and his relationship with Misty.

The only thing you mentioned that might be legitimate foreshadowing is the possible drawing of Opaline’s cutie mark, but ANG’s writing crew admitted that they did not come up with an explanation as to how G4 and G5 were connected, and Opaline is the main connector between the two. It’s possible that the drawing is a) a coincidence b) the inspiration for Opaline’s cutie mark design, like someone in the design team caught up on that drawing in the movie and said ‘Hmmmm. Let’s make that our villain’s cutie mark.’

Wow, I can’t believe that actually happened. Let’s just hope Opaline’s not disappointed about that.

There are no explicit hints from earlier episodes indeed, what I’ve originally meant instead were the subtle hints. And we definitely have some of those.

I might be biased towards Alphabittle, but I was always hoping that there was more to his character other than what most people can see. I’ve always felt like he had some underlying bitterness and depth in his character, which he tried to hide. For one thing, if you look closer at him in ANG, you can tell the only time he was “happy and smiley” was when he was playing those games. Apart from that he was all gruff and aloof.

And knowing that he’s probably Misty’s father, there’s a chance that his way of coping with the loss of his family was gambling and collecting stuff. And maybe it was indeed the writers intention from the very beginning. That Alphabittle is a father who lost his family. And her daughter, Misty, who got lost and accidentally wandered far away from home, is found by the villain, Opaline.

Besides, if Opaline’s cutie mark appeared in ANG, which means the ANG-team apparently knew about Opaline even back then, I think it’s safe to assume that they must have knew about Misty too, since their storylines are pretty much connected.

And by looking at the early storyboards, which also had some AlphaHaven dynamics, even in as early stage of the production when Alphabittle’s character was a blind sage instead of the bartender, you can tell that they must’ve planned AlphaHaven since the very beginning too.

And the main reason why AlphaHaven exists on the first place, at least from the story’s standpoint, is probably to give Misty a chance to experience a loving and healthy family environment after all the narcissistic abuse she went through with Opaline, thus she can heal and grow as a character. At least that’s my theory.

Not to mention, BetaAlphabittle in the early concept art looks much more like Misty:

Even in his earlier 3D render he used to have blue coat and dark blue/violet mane.

And here’s Alphabittle’s shelf with his most valued prizes/possessions, and there’s a pacifier and a horn-sized wedding ring, even though it could be a stretch and these might be some random props without any particular meaning, you still could interpret this as a foreshadowing:

Then, there’s this scene during Sunny’s speech in the climax of ANG, where Alphabittle almost looks like he’s trying his best to not to cry:

At this part Sunny says that “We can stay separated by fear and distrust…”, and as for Alphabittle, he was most definitely distrustful towards both earth ponies and pegasi. I believe it’s because when Misty got lost, he probably assumed that she wandered outside of Bridlewood and she didn’t return because an earth pony or a pegasus found her and something bad happened.

This would also explain his initial hostile attitude towards Sunny and her friends (and other ponykinds in general). Note that Alphabittle only gets angry when their true identity is revealed, not right after Sunny beats him in “Just Prance!”, which makes me assume he acted like that not (just) because he was a sore loser. If that would be the case, he’d become instantly angry right after his defeat.

I could be wrong of course, and I might tend to over-analyze things, but I usually also tend to think with the head of the animators, imagining what they might have tried to convey with certain facial expressions and body language. Also, I wouldn’t underestimate the writing team either. The writing for G5 is far from perfect, but they tend to foreshadow things even since from ANG, that’s for sure.

I like this turn of events for his character, but to say that it’s been foreshadowed since A New Generation, before Misty was even conceived, is a bit much.

What hints? 🤨 The only explicit hint that foreshadowed this is that one moment in Manesquerade Ball. Alphabittle has had his fatherly moments, but that’s not explicit foreshadowing that he lost a daughter before.

If Misty is indeed Alphabittle’s daughter, then her true full name is Misty Blossomforth.

Haven gains both a new husband and a new daughter. How wonderful.

We can’t judge right? They could be siblings or even Misty could be Alpha’s niece, anything is possible.
