A spike maned Courier keeping Salt-Upon-Wounds from becoming Splatter-On-Ground.
You. Make him stop.”
Joshua, put a cap in Captain Gobbledigook here, please.’
Ok, that is one aspect that I agree Fallout 3 did better. Even if it was rather nonsensical at times, the Capital Wasteland did feel overall better to explore.
Hell, I still remember the time where I went too far north, and ended bumping up in Old Roney.
Ah what the hell, I’ll bite.
Fallout New Vegas is a great game in many respects. Its plot, factions, characters, writing, voice acting, and overall gameplay are all arguably far superior to Fallout 3. However, it lacks an irreplaceable element of Fallout 3 that is essential to every Fallout game, and that is atmosphere. Fallout 3 has far superior music, setting, aesthetics, and artistic direction on the whole. Every inch of that game’s environment has something interesting about it and tells a story of some kind in a subtle way. Even though it has no hardcore mode, it still has a more compelling survival aspect than Fallout NV. It is overall a more versatile and interesting wasteland experience. The Mojave got very boring very fast because it all looks the same– it has very little exploratory value after the first few playthroughs, because you know exactly what you’re going to get. But I am always surprised in some way whenever I explore the Capital Wasteland, simply because the sets are better– by which I mean the way that props like trees, rocks, bridges, ect. are placed and arranged to create a more immersive experience. To some extent I think that’s attributable to Adam Adamowiz, who also worked on Skyrim, another game often praised for its immersion and exploratory value.
I guess I’m trying to say that one isn’t necessarily better than the other, but that neither fully covers the other’s bases, and so which one you like depends on what kind of wasteland experience you prefer. The expansions, on the other hand, are a completely different story altogether.
If you choose to let Daniel’s tribe evacuate Zion, you confront Salt-Upon-Wounds at a tunnel entrance. Now that I think about it, it might have just looked similar to a metro tunnel.
I think you’re thinking of the wrong game.
I think Fallout New Vegas is a superior game in nearly every respect, BUT, I recognize that Fallout 3 is still a very enjoyable game, and even has a few elements, like exploration, better than New Vegas. If you think Fallout 3 is a better game, that is your opinion, you’re entitled to it, and I have no right to tell you otherwise.
@UTTFISH’S
The Fallout New Vegas vs. Fallout 3 shit, I mean.
I ended Up near the End Going Screw this and Toggled god mode and just went through my head exploding the entire way through.
@UTTFISH’S
Oh god please don’t start this shit, we all know where it’s going.
Same.
Oh yeah, I should mention, the one thing that made Honest Hearts still greatly enjoyable to me was Joshua Graham. He’s honestly my favorite character in the entire series.
I had to walk away from the game to keep from breaking my controller. Twice.
Well, as somebody who really liked Dead Money, I say that these indestructible speakers can go eat a dick.
Oh god, don’t remind me of those. The endgame was a fucking nightmare with all the indestructible ones lying around.
…Wut?
In what regard is the story of Fallout 3 (that is mostly just Fallout 1 and Fallout 2’s stories, but blander) better than NV? Aside from obviously Liam Neeson?
Yeah. Personally as a gun guy, it was refreshing to get such a wide variety of guns and it only got better with DLC. And actually, it’s my favorite DLC in the game. Lonesome Road comes a very close second for me but didn’t have the same effect on me that HH did. Followed by Old World Blues, then Dead Money. And I still loved DM, but I got really frustrated at the points with the speakers near the end.
I find the story of Fallout 3 better that New Vegas. I still think New Vegas is better in almost every aspect, but there’s that.
NV is more balanced (30-40 ish DT max by endgame versus easily 85 DR max by endgame…)
Also less over-the-top, awesome ammo varieties, weapon mods and crafting…
I dunno, maybe people like that the post-apocalyptic aspect is more visible in the, also more iconic DC ruins or something.
I like it too. Just because I think it’s the worst DLC doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s still great.
Really, all of New Vegas is great. I don’t know why so many people rate Fallout 3 higher. Fallout 3 ain’t got shit on New Vegas. (Ok, Fallout 3 has got some shit on New Vegas, but not enough shit)
Eh, I like shotguns, but the problem is that they have an incredibly shitty early game.
Once you get Shotgun Surgeon you’re golden, though.
