Pinkie gets more credit for it because everything’s a freakin’ popularity contest.

Spike knows some of the secrets of the Fourth himself.  
He’s used them, a few times, to calm ponies down and generally snap them out of their craziness.  
And his glances at the camera are a lot more obvious than Pinkie’s, even if he does them a tad less often.

I believe that one of the funniest parts of this is that Discord genuinely seems to regret breaking Twilight’s mind. That and how Twilight reacted to being stuck with Pinkie’s powers.

What she saw through her windowless eyes, the pathway towards the fourth dimension sight… you see what neither should exist nor find your way to your tiny speck mind. Life and Death… intertwining one another, twisting your sense of awareness to the point where you no longer yourself. Such sights… guarded by the sleepless watchers of the voided dimension. They are not being watched by us… we are being watched by them… eternally. Those who venture forth beyond the wall, those whose eyes are free from the view of reality, their minds concealed by non-metaphysical consciousnesses, and their pure souls uninhibited by existing forces… will see, hear, taste, smell and feel what ascends beyond our reality’s concepts of truths and lies. That… is the only comprehensible definition of the 4th wall.

…when Twilight-as-Pinkie starts pacing, panicking…I started to really, really feel for her.

I dunno… I liked the idea of “quite a bit darker than I expected” (keep the last word in mind), since he likely thought Twilight would just be angry, but bouncy and high in energy like Pinkie.
