Description

“We want the Big Ten championship and we’re gonna win it as a Team. They can throw out all those great backs, and great quarterbacks, and great defensive players, throughout the country and in this conference, but there’s gonna be one Team that’s gonna play solely as a Team. No man is more important than The Team. No coach is more important than The Team.

The Team, The Team, The Team.

And if we think that way, all of us, everything that you do, you take into consideration what effect does it have on my Team? Because you can go into professional football, you can go anywhere you want to play after you leave here. You will never play for a Team again. You’ll play for a contract. You’ll play for this. You’ll play for that. You’ll play for everything except the team, and think what a great thing it is to be a part of something that is, The Team. We’re gonna win it. We’re gonna win the championship again because we’re gonna play as team, better than anybody else in this conference, we’re gonna play together as a team. We’re gonna believe in each other, we’re not gonna criticize each other, we’re not gonna talk about each other, we’re gonna encourage each other. And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know, it’s gonna be Michigan again, Michigan.”

So like many other Americans, I was watching the Superbowl this past February. And like many bronies I flipped out when I saw the mane six in one of the commercials.

And like many people around the world, I am a student (and soon to be graduate) of the University of Michigan, and I am very passionate when it comes to athletics, particularly the football team.

And when I saw that ad, of the mane six in football gear, I knew what I had to do.

One painstaking edit later, and we have the mane six decked out in the Maize and Blue, under the lights at the Big House.

And Im posting it today because, not only is it the premiere of the 5th season, but as fate would have it, its also the annual spring game for Michigan Football.

And whats more; in the original commercial, the mane six were dressed in gear that represented the Indianapolis Colts. In the 1990s the quaterback for the Colts was former Michigan quaterback Jim Harbaugh, who is now the head coach of for Michigan (and also coached current Colts QB Andrew Luck).

So in my opinion, the mane six have a connection to Jim Harbaugh, and by extension to Michigan football.

But thats just semantics. This pic is mainly to celebrate this day, April 4th, where I see the return of two things that I love dearly: My Little Pony, and Michigan football.

Heres to a great show, a great game, a great month, a great season, and a great year.

Pony up and GO BLUE!

The only difference is, the ponies don’t get beat by something that’s scarlet and grey every season unlike a certain ttun.

I was originally going to make it so each pony had the numbers of famous Michigan players (Dashie was going to wear Harbaugh’s #4). But the font Michigan uses is proprietary and I couldn’t find anything that closely mimicked it, so sadly I had to leave it as is.
