I don’t like clop in general, and Megapone was one of the few I actually liked well enough. And I guess it didn’t help that some of his stuff was legit unsettling (Not the two I faved)
I think it’s a combination of artists hating their old artwork (it’s a bit of a given with time), and people falling out with/feeling disgusted with a fandom. Back when I was involved with furry fandom, I deleted my old gallery because of hating my artwork and (back then) being disgusted with furry fandom.
More to a point, I think it’s that artists don’t want to curate a gallery of stuff they hate, because people still sometimes make incredibly dumb/creepy/annoying comments in their old galleries. It sort of only ends up deepening the well of disgust. I think artists don’t address this, because they don’t trust that fans will approach the artist with good intentions. It actually doesn’t help at all when fans complain about artists deleting art, because it comes off as fans only caring about the artist as an art-producing-machine, than them as a person. (Again, feeding that feeling of disgust about a given fandom.)
It could also be because of other reasons, like other classmates harassing someone over their gallery if they’re still in school, job reasons, etc. Deleting their gallery probably feels like it means less bullshit to deal with in the long run vs. keeping it around.
It would be nice to know how we fans could help artists regardless of their situation ahead of time.
It looks monopon512’s Tumblr and FurAffinity accounts got deactivated. I’m not sure what happened that would make him/her disappear without an explanation.
Unless my mind just completely COMPELS me to do so, I seriously don’t want to draw any more fan art of shows and games. Why? Because I don’t want to, let’s just leave it at that. Maybe if that good idea floats by, but I doubt it.
