Please, there is no such thing as happy fandom with love and joy over flooding everyone’s heart, every single ‘fandom’ is a mixture of great and bad, has good individuals and awful individuals.
Gotta stop thinking MLP fandom is superior in someway because it isn’t, reality is that if you can’t filter yourself inside any fandom you’ll just get upset, regardless what subject it is about.

Did anyone ever find out what happened to Superedit? I keep hearing rumors that they (not sure if they were a guy or a girl) died a couple years ago, but nothing outright confirmed.

It seems like a lot of the really good scenery artists (Huussii, Shamanguli, Devinian, Rain-Gear, etc.) have dropped off or moved on entirely. Decent scenery pictures crop up now and then, but I don’t think any artists from this fandom will ever fill their shoes.

Yeah, I know Shamanguli had a ton of his images wiped from DA (his best IMO, plus all his old images to see how he developed as an artist) for no real reason. Thankfully they’re all still on Derpibooru.
I’m pretty sure Huussii and Rain-Gear had a couple incomplete images that they were working on in streams when they dropped off. It’s a shame they never saw the light of day.

That doesn’t explain why Shamanguli’s old pictures were selectively deleted like that. I can understand if he doesn’t like his old pictures (his most recent style is generally edgier than his old pictures), but deleting them is silly. I don’t think it has anything to do with MLP hate in that case.

Glad I’m not the only one who notices this and Shamanguli’s mysterious deletions.
It’s a shame. They are the most talented bunch. Many of them professional grade. We still have Yarlovad or however you’re supposed to pronounce his name. But his activities seem to have been significantly reduced over the years. You still get occasional stuff from him. He’s been doing a lot of non MLP works.
In another note. There are certain number of vector artists I miss on this site. Namely Galekz who seemed to have all but disappeared. His stuff here and DA are still up. But they look frozen in time for a year or two now.

Maybe this fandom isn’t suited for scenery pictures anymore. It’s probably easier and more profitable to focus the extra effort on making the characters look sexy, cute, badass, etc. That and the art scene is starting to shrink in general.
I don’t keep an eye on vector artists, but they seem to come and go often.

Atlas is one of the best, if not the best scenery artist in the fandom right now, but I still don’t think he’s as good as those I mentioned before. Also, I’ve noticed that a lot of scenery porn and other canon pony images (especially from Russian artists) are commissioned by one person so they can be sold at cons. It’s an interesting business idea, and without him we’d probably have a lot less canon ponies from that part of the world.
