OC Thread

Decided to settle on calling her Sweetleaf, as there doesn’t seem to be any other OCs with that name on the ‘booru.
 
All right, let’s have some backstory for the herb horse siblings. Moderate wall of text incoming.
 

 
Bittergreen and Sweetleaf, along with other siblings not pictured, were born in a village in the middle of nowhere in rural Equestria. Their parents were herbalists, so that’s what they learned as their trade. At least Bittergreen did, Sweetleaf was a bit too busy doing little filly stuff to bother with that quite yet.
 
However, their parents couldn’t quite grasp the concept of not having more foals than they had space for. And when it turned out a yet another foal was on its way, it was up to the oldest one, Bittergreen, to leave the nest.
 
Not content to stay in her home village, she thought she’d travel around for a bit. Enjoy the freedom, and use her herbalist’s skills to make a living on the road.
 
Sweetleaf, however, would have none of that “being separated from her favourite sister” nonsense and, being the cheeky little pony that she is, ran off after her the first chance she got. Bittergreen was less than enthused by this, but no amount of persuasion, pleading or angry shouting could change her mind.
 
So, Sweetleaf tagged along. And things went swimmingly for them for a while, until the coming of winter forced them to find a place to settle. Travelling from town to town with a little filly in tow was difficult enough in the summer, and out of the question with the roads covered in snow.
 
However, as they were short on money they couldn’t easily find a place they could afford to stay in. After a long and arduous search they eventually found an old, rickety hut that happened to be sitting on the very edge of an estate belonging to a certain noble unicorn with the name Midnight Dew.
 
Bittergreen and Sweetleaf asked her nicely, and she allowed them to stay in the rickety abandoned hut for free. How magnanimous of her.
 
After some work to patch up the biggest holes in the roof, the sisters were ready to spend the worst winter of their lives. Constantly freezing and short on money to buy food, the following cold winter months were not a good time for them.
 

 
Once the harsh winter passed, however, their situation improved. Realizing the benefits of having a herbalist at her beck and call, Midnight Dew paid to have their hut repaired to a respectable condition.
 
The sisters now had a home, and their landlady had a skilled (if somewhat eccentric) herbalist at her disposal.

You have some very interesting characters right here. I really like the backstory behind them, and they have a design that is appealing to the eye.

Great backstory with solid pictures to go with it. I’m really liking these OCs.

I designed this OC for a commission, I’m quite happy with the results.

I also have to agree that the backstory of those two sisters is quite nice, it makes us think on them with more depth. I like to think that Sweetleaf is that kind of foal that it always has that happy, curious and optimistic emotion that makes cheer up her bigger sister, even if she has a more rough personality.

That would depend on the use and context, like with most accessories.
 
As day-to-day clothing it might be considered a bit ostentatious :V  
As battle/adventuring attire it’s fine.

And as I posted in the Artist Chat Group, I also post it here. New image of my OC, it was difficult to do but I think it looks fine.
 

 
Originally, Aureai was going to have a sweater and glasses, but I haven’t did it until now because laziness. But at least now it’s complete!

Aureai’s a great looking winghorse. I especially like how the hair is a lighter colour than the body, that doesn’t seem to be all that common.
 
Is there a story behind the name, by the way? Based on the latin word for gold, i assume?

Thanks! And good observation, I didn’t noticed that there aren’t so many ponies with a lighter mane color than it’s coat color. Good to know.
 
About the name, the history it’s a bit more different. It comes from two names:
 
Aure -> It’s a roman name that means “soft breeze”
 
Ai -> It comes from the Japanese, and it means love.

Ah. I thought it was like the genitive form of “golden”, which would be Aureae, IIRC.

Pretty much. I was thinking Royal Guard at first but in all honesty it looks like crap. So I looked to the RPGs I played and that’s how I got the idea to base it off of Adol Christin’s armor:
 

 
This is where I make an oc by stealing the design of an already existing background pony and just changing it up a little.

Is it bad I’m expecting the top-right to say “It’s high noon?”

Besides a couple of clothing options he looks literally nothing like McCree.

I can’t help it. Overwatch has tainted me. I think it’ show it looks like a Pancho in a way.
