Oh god - that one! Yeah, I saw that, too. I don’t think anyone involved with the movie knew what the word “protocol” means. I actually ended up yelling at the screen. Not horrible, just … scream.
 
I like horror movies where the monster makes me scream, not the “If I don’t open this door, then the plot simply won’t advance, so - here goes the door” plot points.

Honestly, it’s not too bad. The Drama and antagonistic people are relatively rare. And mod abuse is rather easily kept in check with us having a record of what each mod is doing at any given time. That, and a slow progression of Mod permissions in order to make sure any new people would be used to how things are run before they get super-powers~
 
As for me: Having a youtube channel already prepared me for difficulties. When you get the same comment nearly every week for years of “stop talking over the video”, on a video directly titled “Commentary”, it becomes easy to get used to dealing with junk.

Mostly for the love of the site/community. That’s why it’s volunteer.
 
From a personal perspective, I do very little actual front-facing moderating and am predominantly concerned with the systems and managing the developer team. My almonds are only really activated if something legitimately threatens the site or the staff (be it technical or, in some circumstances, legal or otherwise). So I see a lot more high-impact stuff but at a vanishingly small rate.
 
The staff I certainly don’t envy are Joey and TSP. They deal with all the front-line stuff on top of the above.

It’s mainly conversing with other staff that makes it tolerable. Dealing with stupid/annoying people is monumentally easier when a dozen or so other people online at the time sympathize with you.
