Today, the government is undergoing an effort to combat Islamic radicalism in favor of a more moderate and peaceful Muslim. I don’t want my country, as a Muslim majority country, to be labeled as a terrorist nation

If you’re interested in getting into Rush, I’d recommend Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures to start with, by far their most accessible albums.
 
As for other prog bands, well, Fragile by Yes is an obvious must-listen. Same with Queen’s first four albums, The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Aqualung by Jethro Tull, Leftoverture by Kansas, In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson, and Brain Salad Surgery by Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

For progressive music, the progressive folk album Comus - First Utterance from 1971 is also an album worth bringing up.
 
It’s a pretty dark and deranged album, you can say it’s the most metal non-metal album ever made.
 
Trust me, just listen to it. It’s absolutely worth it, it’s pretty insane stuff, quite underrated.

When it comes to 70’s Rock though, I prefer heartland rock (Bad Company, Bachman-Turner Overdrive), heavy metal (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath), funk rock (Climax Blues Band, War), folk rock (Little River Band, Kansas) and arena rock (Foreigner, Boston).

Should’ve mentioned this when it happened, but one of my friends is staying offline for the foreseeable future so he can focus on his own wellbeing, but he’s entrusted me to let him know when Tool, the rock band, announces a release date for their new album. So, I’ve been searching “tool new album” on Google for the past few weeks…
 
BUT ONE MORNING, I get a notification, “New album by Tool”. I was excited as all hell (because I kinda like Tool too) and I really wanted to let my friend know. I looked into it a little further, only to find out that I’d been notified about some Soundcloud rapper named TOOL$ releasing a new album, and the Tool I actually care about is still silent.
 
At least I got to tell my friend a funny story.

Also, funny how none of the heartland rock bands you mentioned (nor any of the heartland rock bands I can think of, for that matter) are from the heartland. XD

I haven’t listened to a Tool album before, should I?

Tell me about it. The reason for the title is it comes from the stereotype that the ones who used to like that type of music back when it was popular were middle aged rednecks from the heartland in muscle cars with mullets, handlebar mustaches and a love for beer.

I’d recommend listening to all their albums, they actually only have 4 full length albums (and 2 early EP’s).
 
All their albums are on youtube…they are not on Spotify.

I listened to a little bit of Lateralus and it wasn’t really my thing. It’s not bad, I see that they have talent, but I also don’t get why so many people think they’re the most complex and intelligent band out there.

They’re pretty notorious for having arguably the most pretentious fans. Even Maynard James Keenan referred to that part of his fanbase as “insufferable retards.”
