……You know what I can’t stand? Urban Angst Films. You know the ones, the white guilt mills, your oscar baits, your Mister and Petes, the part of Tyler Perry’s movies that don’t have Madea in them and are henceforth the parts no one remembers despite being some 75% of the running time.
 
Why do I bring this up?
 
As lunch at work was winding down, i was treated to a commercial about some new movie that has supposedly already won or been nominated for a bunch of vapid awards. It seemed to be a romance involving two black people. Nothing special, right? But the very last scene they showed us was the guy in prison(jail?), with his waifu on the other side of the visiting glass, both crying over some shit.
 
Thus did the mouse become the rat, and all my gnarled little barbs about the genre came spilling out.
 
Holy Fuck, cut this shit out.
 
Can i please have a movie starring black folk that doesn’t feature them making predictable mistakes or chronic victims of their pwn blackness? Have one be a plucky, upbeat, non-urban or excessively tribal hero for once. Black films seem to think of nothing but teh struggle, the self-serving, never-ending pity party they don’t have the capacity to avoid or get out of.
 
And before anyone tries pulling the card, no, Black Panther is not a welcome change.

Spawn movie was fine, by my admittedly low standard for hero movies.
 
Never even knew he was a black guy before the film.
 
But i hardly knew about anything about him before the film.
 
Apparently the lighter is from some company called Jetline.

Christmas is coming and my allergies too!

I do not know if I am going to get a good grade in this class. It was so hard to keep up with it.
 
My parents always tell me, though, that the grade I ultimately receive in a class does not matter as much as what I learn from the class. So I guess I did learn some things about business, namely that I do not want to get into business for a living.
 
I just hope my parents weren’t bluffing and that they really don’t have a problem if I get a low grade.

Count me in. I’m a defeatist. I don’t know what “Hopes and Dreams” are anymore. Oh and in my current job I work on holidays.

I’m asian, brown, third-world. I didn’t have a black ppl problem where I’m from, but what username Takengrim is observing is similar to what I’m seeing with certain groups of ppl who generally behave like thugs.
 
Btw you americans don’t need to “apologize” by saying “I don’t mean to be racist.” Just state what you observe and leave it at that. But you MUST mention that it’s YOUR observation, and don’t phrase it in a way that implies fact.
 
Example: “muslims are assholes” is the wrong way to say “all the muslims I’ve read and seen on the news, history books and in real life are assholes.”
 
The latter would be a valid observation, which means you aren’t being racist, which means you don’t need to apologize for anything.

So much work and I hate it.

Really? Start subbing to/following a ton of accounts that are relevant to your interests, have notification on at all times, and you’d be swamped by interesting contents you don’t know where to start consuming said contents.
 
I got the opposite problem. Reason why I don’t do soc-med is precisely because I hate being overloaded by “stuff” which I later still have to filter out even after using filter options.

I used to be the socialy-awkward kid back in the days with mah video games but now the same people that accused my of behind addicted and having unhealthy habits and posture are doing it themselves but ten thousand times worst.
 
I die a little inside when I see grown ass adults hunching on their phones playing casinos.

It also really, really triggers my jimmies when they act surprised that I don’t have a phone.
 
These motherfuckers cost a whole minimum wage, that is a whole month worth of picking bananas to use Facebook and look like a socially inept titlord while doing so.

It’s rather funny when my printer says I need to replace the magenta cartridge when I want to make a black and white paper copy.
 
And by funny I mean I’m not wanting a color copy.

This week is finals for me and I still can’t find information for manganese involvng the economy, biological use, and pollutant. Now I have 70 questions on the review for AP world history.

I fucked myself so bad, I became so depressed that I literally had no energy to do anything.

I did my class presentation today and it went well. I also hate doing Swedish class. It’s too much with novels and books . I can’t take it anymore

So, I was suspended from work because a claim about threats of violence was made to the higher-ups and my name got mentioned.
 
So, now I’m missing out on much needed money because lowlifes spread bs and take advantage of many people’s fear after some of the tragic events that happen, all because they feel like being petty assholes.
 
It’s like, if I wanted to deal with petty bullshit from someone with the mentality of obnoxious school kids, I’d go work at a public school.
 
Honestly, never move to a small town in Alaska. I would have moved long ago if it weren’t for various debts, health issues, etc.
 
I know a lot of small town are full of gossipy crap, but the worst part about ones in Alaska is that even if there is a road to leave town, the next community may be hours away, and the job market is, in the most polite way to describe it, crap and most employers would rather hire their gossip buddies than people who want to actually get work done compitently and avoid problems/mistakes through using actual logic.
