Rating Bots manipulating vote count?

So, I just uploaded a video half an hour ago. It’s still processing.

The moment I uploaded it, I already get a downvote, which is weird because there was neither a thumbnail generated, nor does the upload appear on the main page.
Half an hour later, I got 3 downvotes and 3 Faves, which is weird because of the same reasons as above.

I think the only way you can see processing posts is in your watchlist, but even that doesn’t give you anything to base your vote on.
So I must assume that some people have a bot monitoring a watchlist and handing out up/down-votes based on that.

But what the hell for?

I doubt that I am on a bot list, but rather the artist I tagged.

Or maybe someone hates on swimsuits …

The image you recently uploaded was downvoted by actual users, who will see that image in their watch list (albeit in a processing state). So it’s possible they were downvoting based on tags alone.

I’ll talk to them about upgrading their watch lists so it doesn’t include images they don’t think should be on the site, and not downvoting images purely because of the tags on the image.

If it helps, there’s more than a million unique users here every month, almost a half a million registered users, from all over the planet.

And some of the countries others on the site are coming from see some of the stuff on the site as immoral, or even illegal.

So, getting a handful of downvotes on some images is kind of … normal. We ask people to NOT do that, to use their filters instead, but there always seems to be a handful of people offended to such a point - by anything - that they think it’s their job to … take a stand, I guess?

It seems to be better to just focus on the fans and the upvotes. And let the downvoters be haters, because who even knows why they hate what they hate, or if that can even be changed.

Where there’s clearly some systematic downvoting or abuse of downvoting though, we will talk to them.

if that was a systematic problem, others would surely have made it known. very vocally, I’m sure.
