Things that scared you as a kid

For me one of the biggest things was the car wash. I was screaming and crying as I sat in the car going through this dark tunnel and the brushes covered the car making it very dark inside as they pounded on the windsheild. That must be what it’s like to be eaten alive by a whale. Every time I was riding in the car and my mom said we were going to the car wash I would get tense and try to get her to go home or somewhere else. That place is like a haunted house ride but with a purpose.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

‘Kay, I just remembered one.

I remember this time we went camping with our old caravan; my parents slept outside in a tent, and I slept on the sofa inside. I fall asleep, life is good. Couple of hours pass and I groggily wake up from an awkward position. Suddenly I see these two big fucking red lights glaring at me from the other side of the caravan. I shit you not, I kicked the window behind me down (thank God it was plastic) and SWAT-rolled the fuck out of there.

Turns out the video payer turned on for some reason. Christ.

To this day, I fear waking up and seeing a spark of light where it shouldn’t be.

I also find it very hard (in a creepy sense) to sleep if I’m not in complete darkness.

Y’know what? I still kinda fear sleeping alone. Suffered an intense period of constant night-terrors over the course of two years when I was little, guess that scarred me a bit.

Skeletons scared the shit out of me as a kid. My biology class in high school of course had an entire wall full of animal bones and skulls and even in high school it was creepy.

Balloons, more specifically, the sound of it popping. Because of my Asperger’s, I have a sensitivity for sudden loud noises and it was especially pronounced when I was a kid so every time I heard a balloon pop, I would cry and cry and I felt scared every time I was near one. Even now as an adult I still get uneasy near balloons and even though I don’t cry at the popping anymore, it still puts me on edge and I hate it so much.
