Depends on what you call over population. Depletion of resources, and environmental changes can be signs.

For all we know, it could be fixed from the present. Anything that’s detrimental with something that’s prolong to be long lasting, i.e. the pandemic, then the future is fixed.
 
Instead, be in the present, because worrying about the future will make it more scary.
