Mick Farren - Trouble Coming Everyday (Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention cover), I Don’t Want To Go This Way, I Want A Drink, Bela Lugosi, Let Me In Damn You and (I Know From) Self Destruction.
From the late English (From Cheltenham, Gloucestershire) Psychedelic/Protopunk/Underground rock singer/songwriter/poet/journalist (and frontman of The Deviants)’s 1978 solo album “Vampires Stole My Lunch Money”. This album features backing vocal contributions from Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, the late Wilko Johnson (1947-2022) of Pub rock/Protopunk band Dr. Feelgood and Sonja Kristina of the Progressive rock band Curved Air.
Mick Farren (1943-2013) was a true and underrated icon of the 60s/70s UK counterculture, representing the seedy and darker underbelly of the hippie “peace and love” dream, using his hot-blooded rock ‘n’ roll to fight the squares (the establishment) with loose and unpretentious music for the working class and the outcast freaks who truly represted personal freedom. He also worked as an author and journalist, contributing as the latter to various rock magazines over the years.

The Proclaimers - Throw The ‘R’ Away, Misty Blue, (I’m Gonna) Burn Your Playhouse Down, Sky Takes The Soul and Letter From America (Band version)
From the debut album by the Scottish (From Leith, Edinburgh*) Folk rock/Folk punk duo, “This Is The Story” (1987)
Comprised primarily of twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid (with a hot of studio and touring backing musicians), their first hit was the aforementioned band version of “Letter From America”. Their biggest hit, (I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) would follow soon after on their next album, 1988’s Sunshine On Leith. With the exception of the band version of “Letter From America”, this album is a mostly stripped-down and minimalist effort, but their might shines through the whole platter, paving the way for the many folk-punk bands to follow in their wake, alongside contemporaries The Pogues.
Fun Fact; The band version of Letter From America was produced by Gerry Rafferty, ex-member of Stealers Wheel known for hits “Stuck In The Middle With You” and “Baker Street” (the latter as a solo artist)
*They were born there, but formed The Proclaimers in Auchtermuchty, Fife
