I just remembered an old 3.5 character idea I made years ago thinking about the last one-shot I was in and that I was the only player who didn’t buy a pet lizard. For context, it was an ice-breaker mini-session-zero, and the DM offered us a lizard race. The two other players kept their lizards (one bough both and gave the other player his lizard as an olive branch for cheating), and I didn’t. I realized that I’m not that big on pets, unlike other player. Than I remembered the dread necromancer character I brew up years before I played 5e. That guy was going to adopt a slaymate (an undead orphan), nerfed to prevent shenanigans in the power department (slaymates boost necromancy abilities and often used by necromancers for that reason). Just a realization I had that I found a bit funny and wanted to share.
