This will be nice since the price of Hi-Powers has skyrocketed in recent years, and I don’t have one in my collection yet. It also sounds like Springfield actually took their time to get the design right so there hopefully won’t be any issues like there were with those Turkish Hi-Power clones from a few years ago.
That’s because they are. One of the people on the ground there did an AMA on the FOSSCAD subreddit a couple of weeks ago, and they said their biggest issue was getting springs, of all things.
They’ve officially replaced them with SIG P226 a few years back. But of course as with anything regarding the Canadian Armed Forces, rollout is snail’s pace.
Unpopular opinion: Steel is still a better option than ceramic plates.
With the coatings to prevent spall you can get for steel, and its low cost, its a good option for most people. But if you want to pay a premium for ceramic go for it.
