-On May 31st, my crew and I were able to pick up signs of a large aquatic creature heading deeper into the Abyssopelagic zone, most of the team says it’s possibly a large whale mermaid. However, the movement patterns are…odd but this could be a discovery.
-We gathered a few of our research equipment and headed down to the Abyssopelagic following the large mystery creature. The M.E.R-052 was able to handle the crushing depths, we documented all the deepsea creatures and merfolk on the way down. The deeper we got, the more barren and eerie it felt, but we were getting closer to the creature.
-The creature was massive and easily dwarfed the M.E.R., it appeared to look vaguely shark-like but covered in scars. The mermaid turned around and stared dead straight at us, I honestly felt unsettled by this…
The massive mermaid began to creepily show a sinister grin as it tries to grab the M.E.R., we quickly reversed the sub and steadily made our way back to the surface.
-Getting out of the sub and onto the ship, we tried to quickly haul up the M.E.R, but from the depth the monstrous mermaid grabbed it and nearly capsized the ship. We lost the M.E.R but we luckily survived.
-Later this evening we all discussed what the hell was that mermaid, as it doesn’t look like any shark merfolk recorded, but some of the crew mentioned that it has some features that look similar to the extinct Megalodon Merfolk in the fossil records. It could never be possible as those merfolk are long gone…but I can’t say that the idea is not out of the possibility.
