Stateside, yes. From what I can gather:  

the actual Silver Sonic, named so in the English manual, is the one in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Master System.  
 
As it was released before the Mega Drive version that makes it the very first Mecha Sonic. That name was later adapted for the Death Egg Mecha Sonic.  
 
 
 
Archie Comics then turned the original into the prototype of the later Silver Sonic models.

He’s also pretty decent at his job, at least in the comics. V1.0 was huge and slow but tough enough to withstand Sonic’s attacks and beat him through sheer brute force. Sonic only managed to beat him by frying his internals using exposed power cables. V2.0 was smaller and faster but not nearly as tough. V3.0 meanwhile combines the best traits of both, being huge, tough and fast and gave Sonic a run for his money.

There was also that Silver Sonic model that made a cameo in Sonic Adventure 1 at Eggman’s base, which the Archie series called “Silver Sonic Mk. II”.

Also never officially identified as a Silver Sonic. That’s how the comics adapted him.

But it was clearly supposed to be a reference to Silver Sonic…
 
Also, for some reason no matter how many times I replay Sonic Adventure 1, I misremember things and think that there are THREE robotic Sonic doppelgangers in the tubes at Eggman’s Mystic Ruin base, only to find that there are only two.
 
…Come to think of it, if it weren’t for some of the continuity nods here and there, you could almost mistake the original Sonic Adventure for something that might have been intended to be a franchise reboot.

…I dunno ‘bout dat; if anything, SA expanded upon the lore explored in previous games (even if we still have yet to see the Super Emeralds or Hyper Sonic make a return, or for that matter get to see how much that’d boost Chaos Control (I actually had this head canon that it becomes “Master Control”)).

I suppose that’s true. In fact, the Japanese manual for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 states that Knuckles was investigating the crashed Death Egg because there was an ancient propechy of an evil dragon that would destroy the island and the world, and Knuckles thought that the Death Egg was the egg containing the dragon. Eggman, having read up on the lore, used this knowledge to trick Knuckles into helping him, claiming that he was there to stop the egg from hatching. This dragon could be a prototype of sorts for Chaos.

Also, does anyone else think that “Believe in Myself,” Tails’s theme from the Sonic Adventure games, fits Scootaloo perfectly?

Well, Tails and Scootaloo are pretty much in the same boat (although fanon Scootaloo arguably sits closer); although, it’s kinda ironic that Tails’ “birth defect” enables him to fly whereas Scootaloo’s problem is that she’s a flightless pegasus (although that lore may have been exclusive to the west and “Tails” was likely originally inspired by Japanese mythology).

It’s too bad they didn’t explore that more, like have Tails’ gain another tail when he hit puberty or something (would’ve fit right into the whole “coming of age” them they were trying to go for in Sonic Adventure, even if the gameplay completely undermined it).

Am I the only one who’s ever wondered what Chaos 3 & Chaos 5 look like (since Chaos skipped right from Chaos 2 to Chaos 4, and then from Chaos 4 to Chaos 6, due to Eggman giving Chaos 2 Emeralds at once in those cases)? Supposedly, the game’s producers made some concept art of those forms, but I’ve never been able to find such art and it may not actually be true.

This. If the game were to ever have a remake for some reason, I’d want them to include those forms.

The Flickies could actually screw you over in a couple boss fights, most notably the Sandopolis Zone mini-boss and the second Death Egg Zone mini-boss…

I wouldn’t mind Super Tails if they fix he damn Flickies, I got screwed over by them in all places it can happen.

Perhaps they could make it work like Cream & Cheese, where the Flickies only attack when you press a specific button.
 
And Tails as the AI partner in Sonic 2 as well as Sonic 3 & Knuckles could also screw you over…

I have a lot of respect for Tails, as a character. He’s so resourceful and honestly? He has more pressure on him than Sonic does. Without him, entire plans fall apart because his ability of both flight and engineering pretty much carry everyone else (especially in the Adventure games). Reading the comics, it’s no surprise he’s felt under-appreciated in a lot of what transpires.
 
Honestly if he wanted to, Tails could totally fill Eggman’s shoes (aaaand that’s a thing, evil tails in the comics, lol)

So I’ve been thinking… What if I made a better SONIC BOOM game than Big Red Button using Unreal?
