i seem to remember a fanfic (it was pre equestria girls) where the ponies attempted to invade the human world and the humans fought back and equestria began to lose…
badly. what happened was the ponies had the humans on the ropes at first but it played up the “humans are adaptable” angle to great success, where everytime the ponies one-upped the humans the humans would almost immediately counter with a means to circumvent it.
like the ponies begin to put unicorns on the front lines to deflect against the human’s firearms. it works for about a chapter, and then the next chapter begins with, i shit you not, force-field piercing rounds being used against them. the humans essentially figured out how magic worked and found a means to make bullets cut right through the force fields.
what made it cool was it wasn’t a “blah blah humans are great” kind of story. it was well written and like a cautionary tail about how your feelings of superiority and faith in your inherent abilites can lead to your downfall, and how nothing is actually infallable or perfect.
that said, if anyone knows which story i’m talking about, link me because i’d love to read it again.
