Do chinchillas even have litters this big in real life? I had a teacher in high school who had a pair who didn’t breed until the year I graduated when they were old and it sounded like they had one baby and that’s it.

According to Google, usually 2, sometimes 4, and as many as 6 have been reported; or 1-6, depending on which result you take as the correct one. They can have three litters in one year. Gestation is about 4 months.
I count 6 kids in the Monopoly scene, and different ages are a possibility, so that seems reasonable.
The girl in the fourth panel was cute. Props to Justin for learning patience.
