Heres a thought.

Is there a specialty that each visual medium specializes in?

2d animation, 3d animation and tokusatsu?

My theory is 2d is best for worlds that are completely fantastical like 90s Dismey films including Beauty and the Beast. It transports to another world.

3d is still fantastical but a bit more uh relatable if thats thw right word. Like Pixar or Dreamworks movies being usually being more grounded. It feels like a comproise between live action and 2d.

Live action is the opposite of 2d. Take something like Kamen Rider or Avengers. The goal is less to immerse you in a new world and more a new world to you if that makes sense. Compared to animation, fantastical things like Yoda can seem out of place in real world but perhaps thats the point.

Anyways thats my thoughts. Perhaps in an ideal world people would use these 3 mediums in proper places.

One character type that I see myself liking and appreciating more is the beleaguered assistant. The assistant or second in command to their boss and is the one who thinks rationally and has common sense compared to the first in command and who has to put up with their BS while snarking at them. Characters like Escargoon in Kirby Right Back At Ya, Kif Kroker in Futurama, Mr. Smithers in The Simpsons, Slinkman in Camp Lazlo and Spike from MLP FIM, all of them tend to be favorites of mine.
