What do you have to say about fans' habit of harassing people they don't like, and how they are associated with different ideologies? I've noticed on the Internet that both sides accuse each other of that "dogpiling" habit. This behaviour is what some chuds complain as "cancel culture": not just the boycotting that characterises the term, but also Internet users leaving hate mail and death threats to "cancel" their enemy out of existence.

On one hand, people complain about "esjaydublews" (leftists) who will harass people for making something that looks vaguely offensive, like the zamii incident in Steven Universe, and "[Japanese artists being harassed":](https://boundingintocomics.com/2019/06/18/japanese-artist-najuco-harassed-and-accused-of-racism-due-to-fan-art-of-pokemons-nessa/) for drawing Nessa in the wrong way. On the other, we have Gamergate, who will harass anyone who puts anything vaguely progressive, like The Last of Us, New Ghostbusters, and "[anti-racism announcements in Cartoon Network":](https://www.wionews.com/world/cartoon-network-psa-teaching-anti-racism-sparks-outrage-online-338976) .

Is there a way to stop them from practicing this disgusting custom? It looks very characteristic of modern American society, and this is why I sometimes hate fandoms.
