Anyone clue me in as to why Quebec seems to be so insistent on french?
 
I read an article of a student from France who speaks french and does her studies all in french but she couldn’t get immigrant status because she didn’t provide adequate evidence of french-language proficiency.

Quebec was founded by French colonists and has a predominantly French culture. So, they’ve been quick upset with being part of the British Commonwealth.

Surprisingly, simply calling someone [INSERT WORD HERE] isn’t enough to sway an increasingly educated suburban electorate. Republicans are hitting a roadblock in the sub and xurb areas, as they are demographically becoming more educated, more worldly, and more informed. Old “red meat” style attacks aren’t working anymore.
 
Which is bad news for them given the outsized roles those areas will play in 2020. If what happened in VA happens in other states across 2020, a redistricting year, Reps may find themselves in the same place Dems were post last census, gerrymandered into a steep minority.

Note the violence and terrorism on both sides. This is why I’m not entirely comfortable with the proposed hard border in the Irish Sea. Yes, it simplifies things for the Republic and the EU, but if the unionists in NI think they’ve been betrayed by Westminster, things could get… ugly.
