Taylor Lorenz of Washington Post decided it was a good idea to interview Chaya Raichik let her deflect any responsibility for Nex Benedict’s murder, thus platforming and further mainstreaming her views that trans people shouldn’t exist and need to be “stopped.”
Lorenz is trying to defend her article saying “But I quoted LGBTQ people and Benedict’s partner too!” in the classic “hear all sides, marketplace of ideas” bullshit that is WHY fascism is mainstream in the US now.
There is no discrediting, embarrassing, or humbling fascists in a fair debate people. The instant a bad actor extremist sets foot on the platform, they’ve won the argument and gained followers regardless of how well they perform by high school debate club rules.
The only acceptable way to engage a stochastic terrorist is to knock their fucking teeth out, and make it clear they will lose more teeth every time they leave the house. It worked on Richard Spencer, it’ll work on the rest.
Edited to clarify: Lorenz sat down for the interview entirely on Chaya’s terms, with Chaya’s social media manager present. Lorenz even admitted she knew that video of the interview would be selectively edited and posted for Libs of Tik Tok’s own benefit a la Project Veritas, which is why she wanted to get her article out first.
Chaya made the in-person, recorded interview a condition for her comment on Nex’s murder (which no queer person wants or needs), then turned it into an hour-long advertisement of her views. Lorenz and other liberals are trying to frame this as a victory and a necessary exposure of her white supremacist beliefs (including Great Replacement) that they’ve discredited in detail, but all she did was just give her access to more followers.
The last time she did an interview with Chaya, Libs of Tik Tok got hundreds of thousands of new followers and the bomb threats and calls for violence from her rapidly expanding fanbase increased exponentially.
Lorenz is now complaining about how queer people are cancelling her for her hard-hitting “journalism.”
