Doing so would, consveratively, lead to around 2 million deaths in the US.

Somewhat correct. Free floating anti-bodies seem to have a limit, insofar as they seem to fade over time. With estimates putting it from a few weeks to up to three months.
 
As for memory cells, not study that I’m aware of has tested for how long the memory T cells themselves stick around. Anti-body tests aren’t always the best choice for checking long-term immunity.
