Funny I was thinking about Rarity as Speedwagon’s backstory when I though about that. Just like Jonathan showed Speedwagon kindness and Speedwagon lived a new life as a buisnessman.

Equestria’s culture, and cultural artifacts, look so much like ours because there is a leakage of information between their world and ours, perhaps through the realm of dreams. It’s why creatures without hands or opposable thumbs have teapots with handles that strongly resemble the ones in our kitchens. They even speak English, though they don’t call it that.
 
The leakage goes both ways, which is why we have television series about them.
