MLP G5 Discussion and Speculation Thread

Background Pony #5489
Some important points:
The first inhabitants of Maretime Bay came from Ponyville.
Bridlewood is an evolution of the Everfree Forest, but everyone kinda knew it.
Zephyr Heights comes from Cloudsdale. Again, everybody kinda knew it. It apparently came to be after magic vanished and pegasi lost their ability to stand in the clouds.
Sorry, but… these sentences are open to interpretation in any direction.
It must not be forgotten that much of the work on the movie was based on a different draft than that used in recent times. When the team went from the original draft with “several millennia” and “war breaking up Equestria” with the G4 as a mythical world to the new one based on “several centuries” and “magic disappeared”, this caused problems. Ever since the idea of a new world based on G4 was accepted, it was clear that the old one had to be destroyed. We saw this between G1 and G4, the windigos and the great cold in the G4 past was to break completely with G1 and create a completely new world.
So a dilemma arose. How to destroy the G4 world? At first it was thought to let time sort this out and let war ensue, but this was rejected by Hasbro who embraced the G3 worldview in a weak moment. There was to be no war or other monstrosities. Then they came up with the idea of removing the magic so that the G4 world can collapse, and connecting the G4 and the new G5 much more closely together, as there was so much world building in G4, that they don’t want to redo the work. Thus we are left with the movie and an incomplete world without a map, without landmarks and very little beyond the three known localities. This characterizes the first season from C1 to C4/C5.
There was little fan-created scenery works so far, simply because there was too little shown of the world in the G5. This is unfortunate, as the G4 produced a lot of fascination and interest with its unique world that was never hidden away. This should be corrected as soon as possible.
These sentences can be interpreted, Bridlewood could be based on the Everfree (the crystals in Bridlewood are not found there) instead of being the forest, as this nullifies the information about the ex-Harmony Tree in the meadow in what was once a central part of the Everfree forest. Whenever Cloudsdale appears in G4, it was always with the mountains of Canterlot in the background. Zephyr Heights in the movie and TYT was not a city in the beginning, it was probably the base of the Wonderbolts, with a residence castle that may have been built by Twilight. We know that it was she who laid the third of the blanket seen in TYT, in the foundation on which the throne rested. Only an alicorn could do that.
And the information that the ponies in Maretime Bay originally came from Ponyville meant that something drastic had happened, why was Ponyville abandoned? The unicorns in Bridlewood have physical characteristics known from the unicorns in Canterlot, so the city may also have been abandoned. When Zephyr Heights was built, the pegasi settled at lower altitudes and thus left Canterlot alone. Canterlot was always below the cloud layer, which is where Zephyr Heights is located.
At the very least, the PDF confirmed that Bridlewood was an important magical place that we have yet to learn the significance of, as discovered in the C3 with both the wishing tree and the confusing book. This location could become important for the continuation of G5, as there are likely many secrets there. The wishing tree was once hollow as revealed by the book.
At the very least, we should now hope that everyone who worked on the G5 now agrees on what world it should be, and how the map should look, because it is time to open it up to the viewers. This is what the upcoming episodes in C4 and C5 as well as TYT have to show, and whether the Discord Arc is part of MYM/TYT canon or not.

You don’t think G1 and G4 share the same universe, do you?
It’s what Hasbro intended it to be. The question is whether this was carried out correctly, as one had to sort out the mess that arose when the G5 movie was supposed to determine the shape of the new world, and this is discussed non-stop until now. I think the G5 team when the movie was shown, did not have a map of the new world and had not completed the shape of the G5, it was probably too much to fill in what had been made too narrow as determined by the original draft.
If you are thinking about G1 and G4, let me say; the G1 world is used as a place to create lore for the new world that must have a new beginning, a complete break with the past that must remain obscure. That is why the old must be destroyed in order to create the new. The G1 in the G4 world is different from the original G1, and we know very little about it. Something the G5 team can do something about if they want to.
Now looking at the cases of Sunny Alicorn; good to see she is destined to be Twilight’s successor as her powers are meant to help others, inspire others - and give hope to others. Exactly what an alicorn as a leader is supposed to do in the face of the ponies. It is possible an indirect confirmation that Sunny can become the “Element of Hope” when the New Mane 6 are given their elemental magical identity as with the Pillars and the Mane 6 in G4.
It is written that she is “a new type of alicorn”, but that is because she was given these powers instead of being born an alicorn or earning them as seen with Cadence and Twilight. The Unity Crystals gave her the alicorn powers for reasons we don’t yet know, but it is likely that she will become a permanent alicorn in the future. Because her fate will decide whether she will have the alicornhood forever or not. And if she is the element of Hope, it is predestined.

G1 is clearly not in the same universe as G4
Not the original G1. But it was used as a mysterious background for the G4 teams for lore building and then it was quite appropriate to have blank sheets to work with. Thus the windigos, today’s Equestria (the middle with Canterlot, Ponyville and Cloudsdale) was not the ponies’ original homeland. We see this repeated with G4 and G5.
Now we possibly have elements for the Mane 5 - HOPE, CREATIVITY, KINDNESS, COURAGE and CONFIDENCE.
Sunny can be the element of Hope, Hitch the element of Kindness, Izzy the element of Creativity, Zipp the element of Courage and Pipp the element of Confidence. It’s hardly surprising after what we’ve seen. Only Misty is absent, we can learn about this possibly in the C5. It seems that there is a connection between the “inner sparkle” and elemental magic found in magical beings, and the stronger the pony’s sparkle, the more the pony will reflect the element within itself. Then it meant that Izzy can sense elemental magic. And that might be why she was so attentive to Misty.
The PDF has provided a lot of interesting background information.

Since misty joining the m5 to be the new m6 is likely, what do u think her element will be? My bets on magic considering the hints~

It depends on what magic Misty has, but the information about “sparkle” and elemental magic in a pony suggests that she may have potential and strong magic that is not yet available to her. Izzy was interesting in Misty because she saw her sparkle, and when she saw Sunny as an alicorn in Bridlewood, she was struck by the power of her elemental magic, Hope.
Misty will likely betray the Mane 5 in C4, but can be forgiven and helped discover her magic when she wants them to get their cutie marks back. The hypothesis that Opaline had stolen Misty’s cutie mark is not possible to know for sure. But we can have an idea of what her cutie mark will be like. Opaline may have raised Misty, but the return of magic may have made her suspicious, erratic and cold even towards her adopted daughter. So it’s possible that she won’t give Misty her magic because she was disappointed with Misty’s presentations.
Hmm… maybe the cutie mark magic that manifested in TYT was not only a “foci” of magical energy in the pony’s body, but also part of the elemental magic. We have seen that the lantern, which Izzy called “Sparkle Reveal Lantern” and others called “Prim Lantern”, functions as a magical engine for object transformation and magical control, it uses magic from the cutie marks in the Mane 5.
It is obvious that the cutie marks in the G5 are given a lot of weight, and that these are much more important than assumed. From G4 we know that these were very special, and they have existed in all generations right back to G1. They were special, because no other magical people in the world have cutie marks that may have originated in the ponies’ first civilization. Perhaps in Grogar’s time or even before that.
The information about the “Fire Alicorn” has led to speculation about the four basic elements, fire, earth, water, air. Then void or magic as an additional fifth element. Since then we have “harmony elements”, but it has since turned out that the elements are much more than that, and that they form a central core of the magic in MLP.
Don’t know what element Misty has, but Izzy thinks there’s a lot of potential in her sparkle.

“A new type of alicorn”.
We learn more and more about the alicorns.
1): The alicorns are immortal. How they will disappear remains unexplained.
2): The alicorn powers are separate from the internal pony magic, Opaline could use unicorn magic when she still had her powers sealed. Only powerful magic can “awaken” this.
3): The “Fire Alicorn” information is not elaborated, but this may suggest a categorization of all alicorns by base elements; fire, water, earth, air and finally void/magic.
4): There are now four different methods for a pony to achieve alicornhood, first by birth (Fluffy, maybe Celestia and Luna), second by earning the right (Cadence, Twilight), third by stealing themselves an enormous amount of magic (Cozy Glow, maybe Opaline?) - and finally, fourthly, by getting alicorn powers voluntarily from powerful beings or gems (Sunny).
It’s a nice start so far in the G5. We’ve been given hints that could indicate there’s much more, including about Twilight’s possible fate.

Spoilers for new TyT episode
It was alright. I’m not much of a shipper, but because of what Izzy said at the end, I wonder if any Rocky X Zipp shipping stuff will pop up soon
