I really don’t know who comes up first with the Equality = Communism meme, but even M.A. Larson plays along the joke in Bronies React Season 5 premiere . I laughed so hard about this, that I become a Equality/Communism fan myself. ;-D
I admit that there are arts, videos and even fanfics that goes to far. But I actually never meet a RL communist in this meme scene till this day and if there was any hate in forums or commentaries sections it was often a thing between die-hard anticommunists and ANTIFA sympathisers. (shrug) I think you can make bullshit with eveything, regardless if it’s a harmless joke in a cartoon show with digital pastel-colored magical little ponies. People take things way too serious these days. :-)
As a military brony I just love the Soviet themed uniforms and the Socialist realism art of the Equality fanbase. And yeah, the brainwashed dancing our town thing too. Still one of my favourite songs of the show. (__)
