Worst Episode of Season 5?

Princess Spike has been by far the worst episode of the entire G4 run IMO.

Princess Spike hands down.

Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep was the worst to me :V There was a good selection of bad episodes to pick from, though.

I can’t tell which episode is worst in the season but Princess Spike,Do Princess Dream of Magic Sheep and What About Discord are equally shit.

I’d say Princess Spike is either the third or fourth worst episode of the series. The Mysterious Mare Do Well and Magical Mystery Cure are definitely worse.

Even still they are both generally seen as near the bottom of the barrel, and regarded as the parvum opus of their respective seasons. MMC, from what I seen throughout the fandom, tends to be the ultimate love it or hate it episode.

Pretty much everyone agreed the pacing of MMC was rushed.

And that could have easily been averted if the episode was a two-parter (which was what M.A. Larson originally wanted), but for some stupid reason Hasbro said no.

I’d say the last 10minutes are the worst in the season not the actual episode. Those last 10 mins are some of the crappiest writing I’ve seen in the G4 series.

You got that right. The only reason I don’t rate the finale as the worst episode of the season is that it was great until the ending while the majority of Princess Spike was bad.

Princess Spike by far. That was a bit painful to watch.

I am willing to give the writers a break about the pacing because back then they weren’t sure if the series would end or continue after that episode, so they tried to wrap things up the best they could in a single episode.
 
Princess Spike was so awful that even Jim Miller had to admit it was flawed.

Writing a series requires long term planning and you can’t make long term plans when the length of the term is uncertain. I blame the higher-ups for not providing a timetable for the writers to work with.

Anyway, the worst episodes of the season for me were Princess Spike, followed by The Hooffields & McColts. both mostly predictable-in-the bad-way and boring episodes, with Princess Spike having the aggravant of squandering an alright ending for the sake of a quick joke.
