Makes a lot of sense. Have movie-style ones and more mythologically accurate characters (for example "[Silver Quill":](/https://derpibooru.org/733648)) under the hippogriff tag, the other style under griffling (or if that name doesn't fly, ponygriff is an alternative, though a little close to hippogriff) and that ought to keep things better organised.


 
Also of interest, the hippogriffs in canon are described as being part bird and part horse/pony (don't recall which term precisely was used), so unlike some griffling OCs that exist they're not meant to be crossbreeds between ponies and griffons.
