Having finished Uma Musume, I think the best comparison I can make to it is that it’s like a feel good sports movie from the 80s and 90s except with horse girls and more singing. Overall, the show is like Kemono Friends in that it is so much better than it has any right to be. The characters are extremely likable and it just leaves you all warm and fuzzy inside.
I will say, however, that while I would like a second season, the show doesn’t need one. In fact, I feel like that’s a trend with the currently airing seasonal anime. Last year, you had Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Tsurezure Children, Gabriel DropOut, Kemono Friends, and Blend S, all of which I could easily see having a second season. That is in direct contrast with shows from this year like Comic Girls, Uma Musume, and Yuru Camp. All are amazing shows, but they all feel like they end on a perfect note. Like, they don’t need a second season.
