Joking aside I’ll admit, I like it. It’s more cartoony without being too cartoony.

I like it. It’s a perfect compromise between cartoony and realistic.

I am noticing that his eyes just barely separated.I’m guessing that’s to get the one eyeball look without actually having at the one eyeball

Actually I noticed something the original movie design had that a new one and most of detective Pikachu’s does not.  
Visible lips and as I recall the mouth was the main issue with the original design. I’m guessing it’s because people don’t associate those body parts with a hedgehog and was looking weird regardless.edit:and now I’m realising that the more better photo realistic versions of cartoon characters usually keep the animal’s lips  
Also computer mouse is the real star of the movie

It’s two eyeballs, but separated by the tiny tuft of white fur in between.

I don’t want to alarm anyone but I saw an article that pointed out that sonic’s ears are different in the two pictures. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fake

I’m sure Sonic fans & haters alike will find something to complain about, they always do.

I don’t get why people would hate blue arms Sonic? I mean, every other character has their arms completely colored. You think Sonic is going to be the end of the world?
 
Also, it’s no different than wearing short sleeves and changing with longer ones.

It’s a matter of character design.
 
I’m not saying I really care all that much, because I really don’t, but people can have legit complaints.

I guess Chris Chan, (I sometimes wish people would stop pretending every bad Sonic fan is like him) and the old “green eyes in Sonic 4” drama kinda unfortunately made a joke out of people whom have minor complaints, even if they’re being rational/calm about it.
 
Still, blue arms as you said aren’t the end of the world, and some do overreact, if they feel it ruins the whole character for them, and frankly the main game canon STILL uses flesh colored arms for him. So maybe it’s just to differentiate him from the games, like with the “Sonic Boom” spinoff canon.
