Never made it to Zoness? Bummer. Though, in order to do that you have to get 100 score or better on Sector Y. (Just remember, destroying multiple enemiess with a single charge shot is a great way to rake in lots of points.)

Mike West returned too, whom is famously Fox McCloud in SF64. He reprised the role in SSB (3DS/WiiU) and in SFZero. Some fan rumors go around saying he’s related to voice actor Billy West (Futurama) but there is no confirmation of that.

Dan Owsen (of “Ask Dan” fame, and a localizer at NOA) was the original Fox voice in the SNES game though. (Though, he only speaks out loud in the ending sequence.) Dan also did the spoken opening narration for “Super Metroid.”

I don’t know about Andross, but his original laugh was better.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Oh bull, you can’t tell me she wasn’t fur-bait right out the gate with that outfit of hers, because that fan-art there isn’t anymore fan-servicey than Krystal was as-is, but the point was I didn’t like how much so it was always pushed, I don’t feel that the token female member has to be forced to be “Sexy” for someone to find them hot.

Her Sex appeal wasn’t pushed very much. No aspect of her was pushed harder than the “love interest” one. There’s no doubt they made her to be attractive to the viewer. Keep in mind we’re playing the game in Fox’s perspective. Of course he finds her hot. That’s why the scenes with Fox and Krystal are made that way. If are wanted to make Sexy character the would have made a Sexy character. Just look at Candy Kong, Game Over Grunty, and the Sunflower from Conker, Rouge even. Those characters are designed to be sexy. Assault tried to make her more useful which consisted of her replacing peppy’s role. which was offset by even MORE Fox/Krystal shipping. Any sexual fanservice given to Krystal doesn’t compare to the shipping in that game. Any sex appeal pushed with Krystal is comparable to Samus, who has it worse. Krystal was never put in high heels or any pinups of her in games. Yes krystal was designed to be pretty attractive but it wasn’t pushed as hard as you’re making it out to be.

P.S An explanation for her outfit in Adventures could be that they wanted to make Krystal look older than what she looked like in ?Dino Planet.
@Beau Skunky
Funny story, back when I frequented Star Fox 64 chat message boards as a kid, I saw a few guys who had a crush on Katt Monroe. Yes, a character whom all you see is their face, and they only appear in 3 levels of the game. (Depending on your route.)

(I can’t figure out what to do after hitting the eight train track switches, and it’s very difficult to hit him, especially if you’re on the train tracks which messes up your aim a lot)

No, I’m pretty sure there’s one more thing you’re supposed to hit after hitting the eight switches, because I hit the eight switches and then Peppy said I needed to “hit the switcher”, but I couldn’t figure out what that was, so nothing happened.

Fun fact: Fichina was mistranslated as Fortuna in the original version of Star Fox 64 even though they’re totally different planets. This was fixed in the 3DS remake.

That would explain why Fortuna was actually so different in SFAssault being a greener world, while Fichina was a snowy one.
Funny coincidence, the SNES game’s manual refered to Fortuna as a “Dinosaur Planet” unintentionally foreshadowing SFAdventures.

@Dr Outback
Actually, there were a few promotional render illustrations by Rare & Namco of Krystal in fan-servicey poses. Her outfits also tend to emphasise her figure more then Samus’ Zero Suit does. (Her Cornarian army uniform was tame though.)

Oddly, Assault, and Command not just teased FoxKrystal, but Panther (the new Star Wolf member replacing Pigma Dengar & Andrew Oikonny) seemed quite interested in her too, and Krystal didn’t seem to mind him flirting with her.
In one of the alternative story routes in Command, she’ll actually join team Star Wolf. One of the criticisms of “Command’s” story routes is Krystal’s personality tends to change in almost every route. (Which lead to some “schitzo Krystal,” or “multiple personality disorder” Krystal jokes from fans.) There’s even a route where she’s almost hilariously bitchy torwards Fox McCloud for breaking up with her at the beginning of the game.

Man the Story of command is awful. I was surprised to find out Dylan Cuthbert who directed it was one of the main programmers who worked on the original two Star Fox games. I love the gameplay of 2,don’t care for the gameplay of Command.

Dylan’s company Q-Games did work on it, and the SF64 3DS remake.

Only thing I didn’t like about Command was I couldn’t really get used to the stylus/touchscreen controls, and they kinda gave me “writer’s cramp.” (Don’t get me wrong though, some games work much better with touchscreen controls.) Admittedly, the story was rather fanfic-like, especially the multiple time-skip endings. The first ending you get is pretty jacked-up too. (Is it me, or were most of the endings kinda “downers?”) I thought Katt’s Command redesign looked weird too. (Making her look like a Krystal recolor.)
I actually did kinda like Command’s concept of navigating maps with enemy/area encounters which was a li’l similar to the unreleased SF2. Using multiple characters/ships was nice too.

Command’s online VS mode seems to of killed off online multiplayer for all future SF games too sadly, but there are easy ways to fix the problems it had. For one thing, don’t end the match for everyone if one player disconnects, and if they count disconnects as a loss, then maybe cheaters wouldn’t disconnect to save themselves from getting a loss in the first place. (Or better yet, don’t record wins or losses at all.)

Seriously though, was Miyamoto ever actually involved with the Star Fox series in any way? Because people blame him for their problems with Zero, except I’m certain he had nothing to do with any of that.

He was heavily involved with the original and SF64 from what I remember, as well as the 3DS remake and Zero. From what I remember his biggest role was with Zero, as he really wanted to push the gamepad

It probably would’ve been better if they offered custom controls, as some gamers didn’t like shooting with the ZR trigger button, and using the right stick to tilt the Arwing, or barrel roll. Judging by the demo, the controls weren’t terrible, they just take getting used to if you’re used to past SF games.

I think the WiiU Game Pad got more hate then it deserved honestly. It was basically more like a traditional controller then the past Wii controllers were. Developers could’ve done more with the touchscreen, microphone, and camera, but didn’t do hardly anything with them, I feel.
The only problem with it was how forced it was with every ap, and feature. (Like Netflix is a bit better with a Wii-remote then with the Game Pad, unless you want off-TV screen play viewing.)
I also like how WiiU is the only recent console with backwards compatibility with both Wii games, AND controllers.

Not many developers used the gyroscope in the Gamepad either. And for good reason; the gyroscope works with the 3DS because it’s small and compact, but the Gamepad is so huge and bulky that it’s much clunkier and more difficult to use.

It wasn’t really heavy though, but yeah, motion controls probably worked better with the Wii remote.

It was kinda interesting how Wii Sports Club used both the WiU Game Pad, and Wii remote simultaneously. (The Game Pad giving you a better view and positioning of the ball.) So there were some interesting things they could do with it.

Blue-butt.

Y’know, it’s funny how alot of Krystal fans never even played a SF game before, or only played Rare’s “Star Fox Adventures” outting.
(Which most felt was more of a Zelda-like game then a SF one.)

It must be jarring for those to discover the series is mostly an arcade-style space shooter series. Probably turned off some SFA fans too. (Probably doesn’t help the newer games were disliked by most critics/fans. It’s a shame the SF series can’t seem to get out of the rut it’s in.)

I kinda hope they make a Star Fox mobile game to reinvigorate the series. (Not sure what kinda game it could be.) It worked for “Fire Emblem.”

Yeah, I fear with “Star Fox Zero/Guard” bombing, (in sales, critics, and with SF fans) we’ll be lucky to get a new SF in less then 7 years…

“Adventures” was ok, but didn’t feel like a sci-fi SF game at all to me. (It wasn’t originally a SF game.) It was also kinda annoying you couldn’t backtrack once you get to the final boss.

“Assault” wasn’t bad either, but seemed to focus too much on on-foot missions, (and the controls are kinda terrible for being on foot, unless you customize ‘em to your liking. I liked using the SF64-esc control scheme personally) and a grimderp storyline, and some of the character redesigns, (I kinda prefer the classic SF team uniforms as opposed to those cliché space suits) and some of the new voices weren’t that great. (Though, I liked Peppy & Slippy’s voices better.)
The ability to switch vehicles in some missions were cool, and I loved the “Wing-walker” stages. Wish it had more Arwing stages though. Some of the bosses, and such were impressive. The soundtrack, (including some remixed SF64 themes) wasn’t bad either.

@Beau Skunky
We discussed before on how I don’t see Assault being needlessly dark. The story handled it’s tone very well. While the story is a common one in sci-fi It was good to get a deeper story in a Star Fox game. Its not any much darker than other star fox games. Nobody except Pigma died. Their was the feeling that characters could die which I loved. My main gripe with Assault’s story was that it wasn’t clear what the Aperoids were All I got was that they were synthetic,insect like and could absorb and control minds. How did they come to be? what happens when they infect you? why? Is this how they reproduce? I agree I prefer the uniforms over the space suits. As for the voice acting goes…The main team is fine. I Prefer Krystal’s voice in Adventures. The voices of Star Wolf threw me off at first. Funny how the voice direction for Andrew and Pigma was basically swapped. Leon’s Voice was better in 64. Imight create a video no this topic later.
Aside all that, I want Namco to try their hand on Another Star Fox

So apparently Dylan Cuthbert THOUGHT that the reason for a lack of re-releases of Star Fox was because of legal issues, but when the SNES Classic was announced a spokesperson for Nintendo said that it was actually indeed because that they had had difficulties emulating the Super FX chip.
