How’s this for nerdy: I had an idea for a spherical go board, based on a rhombic triacontahedron. (If you’ve ever seen a d30 in a game shop, it’s that shape.) The idea is that each face has 16 points, 4x4, with lines parallel to the edges and extending to connect adjacent faces. So every point has four liberties, like on a square board, and the vertices of the d30 become triangular and pentagonal boxes. Today I was looking for an online 3-D modeler to visualize the design, and after a little while I hit pay dirt.
Ta-da!
