Well, the head of Wall Street Journal was the guy that nominated him, who knew he worked with Verizon (ortime warner, I forget witch) and they have had massive amounts of shit they did which is why he went to the FCC so he can keep them from paying the bills.
Trump’s falter is listening to others for advice. That’s all you can pin on.

I suspect the idea of Russia being his “boss” is meant sardonically. But it must be pointed out that there are plenty of demonstrable indicators Russia was attempting to influence the outcome of the 2016 election, and the preponderance of the evidence that Trump’s team and family members were inappropriately engaging in talks with Russian officials has grown to the point of not really being dismissible anymore.
Honestly, if you don’t believe there is something untoward going on with Russia at this point, you either haven’t been paying attention or are calling the wrong side delusional.
