Just got wind of the petetion of banning Dr.Wolf & Silverquill from future Bronycons, is this even possible to ban them with this petetion or by any other means? Minor pressure to change your behavior is not a witch hunt. Even in all of the talks about how Zak’s behavior was enabled, nearly everyone has made it clear that the root of the problem is apathy and privilege goggles.

Nobody’s accused Wolf, Quill, or Burner of being pedophiles or abusers themselves, though the three of them have thrown those accusations around quite liberally.

They could end all of this by admitting they don’t know how abuse works, don’t know the behavioral psychology necessary to counsel abuse victims, apologize to abuse victims for prioritizing the shallow sense of “rationality” over actual rationality and for their dismissive attitude that led to those in the first place, and make an active effort to do better.

They have refused to do these very simple tasks, and whenever they make apologies for their behavior they always do it in a backhanded way while making excuses for their behavior.

People tried to talk to them about this, and they have tried to wriggle out of it at every possible opportunity. People gave them chance after chance after chance, and they have stubbornly refused every single time. So now we’re going to force them to do it.

If that’s a “Witch Hunt” then maybe the Church was onto something.

Whether or not someone is my friend, that doesn’t absolve them of consequences for their mistakes. I will not defend someone when a lesson needs to be learned or a punishment needs to be handed down.

Fair enough. I would ask the same of my own friends and family as well. I merely wonder about whether or not any of them will have careers by the end of this. Maybe I have a bleeding heart, but I still hold some concern for the people involved, however small and detached it may be.

If this has reminded me of anything, it’s this: don’t have heroes, they’ll disappoint you.

If your concerns lie with the analysis community and their jobs over Toon’s victims and the association some people still have with him… then you have skewed priorities.
