Probably because it looks like somebody is actually trying to make a good transformers movie.

Finished watching Transformers: Cybertron. Final verdict: Didn’t live up to the hype built up in this thread.

shame. cuz I quite liked it & I kind of got into Transformers when it was still going in 2006.

I got into Transformers by having a Transformer. sniff, sniff I miss my G1 Optimus Prime…
 
Funnily enough, I never watched the G1 show.

The G1 show was weird but in a good way. It’s obvious there was no long term plan and the show’s budget was worth a few Chuck E Cheese tokens, but I feel it gives the show a lot of charm

Huh only a week til Bumblebee.

It’s weird how half the characters in the G1 cartoon just appeared with no proper debut at all.

Just got back from Bumblebee. That was actually really good.

Does it use any of the usual Micheal bay cliches, like the main female character being used just for fanservice?

NOT AT ALL. Remember, he was only a producer on this one.
 
Hell, even though Charley is stated to be a diver (which plays into her character development), it’s NOT done for fanservice at all.

That’s good to know. Hopefully, any future transformer movies will follow the direction of this movie instead of being like the others.

Well he’s not directing it so I’m doubtful.

I know this probably doesn’t sound like a high bar, but Bumblebee is easily the best Transformers movie yet, and I’m very much including the animated movie.
 
My only real gripes with the movie:  
- Blitzwing gets offed too early  
- Cliffjumper just can’t catch a break

I gots me a Punch-Counterpunch for Christmas.
