We actually got Charlotte vs Rusev in the latest mix match challenge. Sort of.
 
Well Charlotte learned that her trying to chop Rusev is not super effective, but Rusev yet again learned that he is the dumbest man in wrestling (and I love it).

reading up tvtropes and manami toyota’s list of awesome has her pegged to have the most 5 star matches in a realtively short period (5 years).

I don’t think both are entirely exclusive. If you have a lot of talent that can deliver damn good matches on a constant basis, you’re obviously going to break the scale eventually, cause you’re rising the stakes with every proceeding match, although it does make me wonder if that would be good on the long run.
 
As in, people’s expectations get to impossibly high altitudes that no match can ever meet them up, or you end up making the crow peek early and they have no more energy for the rest of the card.
 
I can’t really say how that would work for a booking perspective, just as an outsider trying to guess what would be the most logical outcomes of such a scenario.
 
Certainly an interesting question though

Frankly I look at how many of the ‘best matches ever’ took years off the career of both men, and wonder if it’s worth it.

Actually, you know what has really put me off NJPW and the indies? The accusation that WWE holds their performers back, is ‘safe’, and that all these horribly crippled retired stars should cut ties with WWE and go out and wrestle again in the places with less stringent health and safety rules.
 
…frankly, fuck that shit. Nothing makes it more obvious how entitled and ungrateful some fans really are than the demand that the horrible pain these guys suffer isn’t enough for them, and they want to see more stiff kicks to the head please.

despite it’s safe style, injuries are still abound in the wwe. how many superstars got their big break only to get injured and get derailed?

it’s more about the schedule  
in the Indies you can have more control, you can even wrestle one time a year
 
also the WWE no longer encourages “just take a painkiller and walk your injury off” mentality , if you get slightly injured you get taken off TV untill you are okay

Exactly. Previously an injury meant you took painkillers, told the other guy to stay off the injured part, and got on with it. Now an injury of any kind means you’re kept out of the ring until it’s healed.

Honestly, it’s all subjective. Both mean your match or matches were really, really good.

Mark Henry is going in the hall of fame. Hall of fame for the hall of pain.
