Though, in my opinion, anything based on consent or being allowed to do anything should be based on the mental maturity/stability of the individual. Many adults are just plain stupid yet the younger generations are becoming much more intelligent then ever and younger and younger ages. If you’re a dip, you don’t get to drive/drink/whatever just to name a few.
 
Though, the “age of consent” laws are purely because people are lazy/stupid because, even though it would be pathetically easy to implement such a system/law, it’s based on religious dogma and surprisingly hypocritical when you think about it (separation of church/state, they go against their own teaching doing it themselves)…and I know that’s opening a whole new can of worms but you can’t change the truth of reality as hard as some want to ignore it.

Yeesh. So much arguing over something that is literally not a big deal. And especially a huge amount of confusion over what is considered pedophilia. Now, sadly, this sort of thing is such a controversy that that can never be a “right” answer to it. What is moral and what is legal are both up to the individual and what the laws are in the place they live in. Afterall, the legal age in the US and most other countries is 18. However, in some countries, it is lower than that. In Japan, the legal age of consent is 13. That is quite literally skirting along the age when human hits puberty. Can you honestly say that countries like Japan are completely immoral or full of pedophiles? No. That would be stupid and make you look ignorant. If a couple dated during high school and one of them became older than the age limit, is that person now a pedophile? Again, no. That would be rude and really dumb.
 
Frankly, it is my own opinion that those engaging inappropriate activities with those under the age of 13 should be called pedophiles because that sounds more accurate to the meaning of the word. Pedo, aside from meaning child, is often referring to the soil below one’s feet. Where sprouts are often growing in. People are like plants in this way. Once you hit sexual maturity, you are in full bloom. So if somebody tries to fiddle with somebody who hasn’t physically bloomed yet, I believe THAT is when pedophile is most appropriate to use. Anything after puberty is free game as long as it coincides with the laws in whatever area you reside in. That is how I choose to interpret the meaning behind that word atleast.

Right, a 16 year old and a 20 year old isn’t much of a shock. They’re roughly the same level of maturity and physical growth. I’d imagine the legality of the subject would be better suited to mental capacity instead of age, but then, I remember how shit America’s schools are. XD

Oh sorry I never wanted to portray it like that. To be honest i dont see scenarios like the one in the comic as pedophilia. If the person is not extremely underage, (only two or one year) understands everything and if his/her parents are ok with it and know who their son/daughter is dating…well ok it’s fine with me. Still kinda creepy but it’s ok I guess.

I’ve been talking about this comic with MLPfan and though I asked him not to spoil anything I do know how these two met and he was definitely close to being legal when they met.

Yeah, well, see, here’s the thing. When you click on a pic tagged “explicit, foalcon,” you can pretty much deduce what you’re gonna be in for. If it’s the sort of thing you’d find objectionable, odds are it’s the sort of thing you’ve already got filtered. But when you strap in for an uplifting comic about Apples and Bluefast standing up to homophobia, you generally do not expect things to take a turn in the direction of Humbert Humbert. And the added layer of “it’s not (dun dun) creepy” justification doesn’t exactly help matters.

I find it funny how there are tons of pictures of Applebloom and Sweetiebelle clearly engaging in underage sex and no one bats an eye but if you merely suggest that a pony may have had an attraction to someone younger than the legal age and didn’t even act on it everyone looses their collective shit.

His point is that gays kind of still have a pretty strong reputation for being pedophiles, even if it’s completely unfounded, and continuing to portray it as actually being a thing doesn’t help anyone.

Always funny to see how people react to this kind of things like if it was the greatest crime ever. No wedding/sexuality before 18 is something that started only in the 20th century, before that the average wedding age was puberty (so 12-15).
 
Whether you like it or not, you are all descendants of generations and generations of “pedophiles”. So give a break to the guy who waited for the legal age, he has ten time more morality than your ancestors :D
