It all depends. S5 has shocked us before with what it was willing to do in contrast with the prior seasons, and Meghan seemed very open to bringing Sunset into the main story. Considering in just 2 movies she’s jumped for many into one of the top 3 most popular characters, that isn’t that surprising.
 
Evidense of DHX taking the writing into a direction against Hasbro’s restraints have been apparent throughout this season. If they can follow through, convince Hasbro they can make a finale that’s well written and successful that doesn’t have to follow the old ‘perfect princess’ ideology Hasbro has, perhaps they can take the show’s direction into one that’s really decent.
 
At the very least, this finale’s synopsis sounds better then last finale. Last finale the synopsis said Twilight had to solve everything, but in this one it says all six work together in the last episode. That’s a start.

I agree with a lot of that, but to clarify, when I mean again, I was refurring to Midnight Sparkle. While it was accidental, the device she made resonated with her being the Element of Magic of that world, and started taking magic from the other 5. Worse, it even drained Sunset’s magic connected to the portal, so it gave her the power to create rifts in space as well. (Her cutie mark is a big clue about her role for both the two worlds and her role for morality)
 
I don’t think Sunset turning into a demon had to do with her not being an element, or being one, but more by the fact that she had a lot of corruption in her heart, and the crown was filled with the element of magic which took some of the other 5’s elements so that Celestia could make her an alicorn. That’s understandable from several directions….
 
However, if Human Twilight, who was just weak willed, turned into a demon just by absorbing the powers of Loyalty, Kindness, Honesty, Laughter, Generosity, and (potentially) Empathy, then its only the Element of Magic that could be the cause of such a corruptive nature.
 
I agree, Sunset IS supposed to be in the position Twilight is in now, the movie even hinted that when it showed Sunset’s star shining brighter then Twilight’s. Celestia’s done her best to control fate to favor Twilight, but when Sunset achieved a true ascension by the other 5 willingly giving her their power, harmony’s true power started to reveal itself.
 
(As for Spike using loyalty, Twilight couldn’t use her power of harmony either cause she lost faith in it. And Spike was just rushed into the fight, he didn’t even willingly try to use it)
 
I don’t that Sunset was ‘using’ Twilight’s element was the key the second time. She only was given the power of the other 5, collected it, then destroyed the Pendent. Sunset element is the antithesis of the element of magic. It’s elder and opposite sister.
 
Friendship is magic, but magic isn’t always friendship.
 
As Twilight is right now, Celestia fashioned her as a weapon. Powerful and still sane, but not a person who has truly earned their power. Not exactly a ‘real alicorn’, as you would put it. A weapon can be used for good, but its a path that eventually betray herself and her friends. Sunset’s power is the only one that can bring the elements back into balance. Give guidance to the Twilight Element of Magic, a power with no empathy. Its power needs to be divided and controlled if Twilight doesn’t want to be a weapon anymore, and yes, that most likely means not being a fake alicorn anymore.

Things becoming a bit grayer all around.

Is it just me, or does it look like Chrysalis dislocated her jaw like a snake? I mean, that would be a beneficial move for changelings, as it would make feeding faster and give them a better grip on prey.

But seriously, between Princess Amore’s agenda screwing over Sombra and Hope’s life…  
Celestia’s negligence screwing over Luna’s life…  
And Celestia agenda with how she raised Sunset and how she teaches Twilight, who has the risky Element of Magic…
 
The line between ‘Protagonist’ and ‘Hero’ is becoming thicker and thicker.
 
Besides the Mane Six minus Twilight, Sunset, Spike, Luna and maybe Cadence and Shining Armor, I’m kind of running out of heroes to root for. And then there’s Radiant Hope’s existence as basically one of the nicest ponies in history who got screwed over by the princesses so ‘royally’ due to sheer loyalty to a good friend Sombra, that the idea of not causing chaos for the monarchy almost seems wrong.
 
I’m still rooting for the good guys, but the karma-meter between the villains and the protagonists is so utterly jumbled. You know what I mean?

Actually, I don’t think that it transformed her into a demon. At least again. I think it more rekindled what never left, kinda like in a fic I’m making. In the fic, Sunset never lost the demon that she became. in EG: FG, she was able to transform without being an element of harmony. This makes me think that she actually did used the same method of transformation that she used in the first film, and was actually hijacking the power. This also makes me think that Sunset was suposed to be in Twilight’s current position in Equestria, because she can use the power of the Elements of Harmony. Remember: in season 2 episode 2, the EoH didn’t work because Spike was being used in place of Rainbow Dash. I think the elements only work if the selected users all have the right element. But, Sunset was able to use Twilight’s element with no problems dispite not being the right user. This is what makes me believe that Sunset was supposed to be an element, and why she could use it’s power.

Well, they DID establish that the only reason they were able to turn Twilight into a weapon/SSG in Tirek’s episode was because she was the element of magic, not because she had special training or she was an alicorn, so that does give credit to your theory.
 
Sunset’s storyline suggests that the 6 elements of harmony were forged with the Element of Magic as the focus…. was a method of weaponizing the power of harmony, not understanding it. It receives friendship’s power but it does not give it back. Alone it gives more magic then the user can handle, and when taking the power of the other elements, it only becomes a force of corruption.
 
What kind of power of ‘harmony’ amplifies any corruption or weakness of heart 10 to 100 fold and turns you into a demon? Twice?!
 
How did that work out in the finale of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon again? (Major SPOILERS obviously)
 
Not so well!! _ The element of Magic is just raw power with no direction or morality.

Looks like it’s time for these two to have ANOTHER epic duel. lol

Well, it is my headcannon that Twilight was only given wings and not made a true alicorn.

Chrysalis needs to lay off the heroin she’s getting “that look”.

Also, this reminds me of the beam fight in Godzilla final wars. During the fight between Godzilla and Monster X.
